Primary Function
The Senior Loan Officer's primary role is to sell loan products offered by NewRez. This includes contacting prospective clients, developing and maintaining referral sources, and meeting with clients at various locations including their homes. You will also make in-person calls on real estate agents, financial advisors, and other potential referral sources to generate borrower leads.
Principal Duties
- Develop and utilize a network for mortgage loan business development.
- Manage and market to a database of customer contacts.
- Educate potential borrowers and referral sources about our products and services; deliver presentations as needed.
- Complete loan applications and communicate with applicants to gather necessary information.
- Assess financial conditions and risks, ensuring compliance with all lending policies and regulations.
- Negotiate loan rates, terms, and conditions.
- Ensure timely loan lock-in and proper product type selection.
- Collect upfront fees and coordinate the loan process with processing centers.
- Input loans into AUS systems like DU or LP for underwriting decisions.
- Address issues related to processing, underwriting, and closing of loans.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends, market conditions, and competitors.
- Represent the company at community and civic events to enhance its image and generate business.
- Apply sound decision-making in all applicant interactions, ensuring compliance and quality.
- Maintain compliance on all loan files and pipelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Active state MLO license in all states of operation.
- High school diploma or GED minimum.
- At least 3 years of lending origination experience.
- Proficiency in PC skills including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Lotus Notes.
- Strong knowledge of local real estate markets.
