Job summary

Shield Consulting Solutions is seeking a highly experienced System Engineer to administer, configure, and maintain RedHat Linux environments, ensuring high performance and security. The role requires TS/SCI w/ Polygraph and will be performed on-site in Laurel, Maryland.

You will support IT system implementation, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance across client/server/storage and network devices, while optimizing capacity and resource use.

Qualifications

• 20 years of experience as a system engineer.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline; 5 additional years of experience may substitute for a degree.
• 5 additional years of system engineer experience may substitute for a degree.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and maintain Linux OS for high performance and reliability.
• Support implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems.
• Manage IT system infrastructure and processes related to these systems.
• Provide day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices and mobile devices.
• Support the dispatch system and hardware problems through resolution.
• Optimize system operations and resource utilization; perform capacity analysis and planning.
• Analyze and resolve complex problems related to server hardware, applications, and software integration.

Job Description

• Administer, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems to ensure high performance and reliability. Responsible for OS installation, system health and security integrity, network component configuration, and executing continuous system enhancements.
• Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems.
• Manage IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems.
• Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations,monitoringand problem resolution for all the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
• Provide support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and will remain involved in the resolution process.
• Optimizesystem operations and resourceutilizationand perform system capacity analysis and planning.
• Analyze and resolve complex problems associated with server hardware,applicationsand software integration.
