Job summary

Shield Consulting Solutions, Inc. seeks a senior Linux Systems Administrator in Laurel, MD for a full-time role requiring active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph clearance.

You will manage Linux servers, patching, TLS certs, and automation with Ansible, ensuring security compliance and reliable operation of client/server hardware and networks. Responsibilities include Tier 1/2 support, VMware vSphere/VCF environments, STIG remediation, and detailed documentation updates.

Qualifications

• Senior level Linux Systems Administration experience is required.
• Experience with VMWARE, vSphere, VCF (VMware Cloud Foundations).
• Server and Hardware maintenance.
• Knowledge of patching & updating Linux distributions regarding security findings.
• Renew Linux server certificates & applying updates to TLS security versions.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution of problems.
• Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring & problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices.
• Configure and manage Linux, and possibly Windows operating systems, installs/loads OS software and patches to maintain security compliance.
• Support the design of systems, mission architecture, and associated hardware.
• Patching and updating Linux distributions regarding security findings.
• Adding / Removing users and setting permissions to meet privileges.
• Working with STIGs and fixing/updating vulnerabilities with STE/STN findings.
• Renew Linux server certificates and applying updates to TLS security versions.
• Working with automation software such as ANSIBLE to streamline updates and patching.
• Updating documentation such as SOPs with problems and solutions for the team's knowledge base on Confluence.

Job Description

Salary: $190,000 - $200,000 annually
