Job summary

Shield Consulting Solutions is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Administrator in Laurel, MD to support Tier 1 and Tier 2 IT operations. You will manage Linux servers, patching, TLS updates, and certificate renewals while working with VMware virtualization and automation tools.

A TS/SCI w/Poly clearance is REQUIRED, and the role is a full-time on-site position. Responsibilities include user management, STIG compliance, and contributing to system architecture and documentation.

Qualifications

• Senior level Linux Systems Administration experience is required.
• Knowledge of patching & updating Linux distributions regarding security findings.
• Renew Linux server certificates & apply updates to TLS security versions.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution of problems.
• Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring & problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices.
• Configure and manage Linux and Windows OS installations and patches to maintain security compliance.
• Support the design of systems, mission architecture, and associated hardware.
• Patching and updating Linux distributions regarding security findings.
• Adding/removing users and setting permissions to meet required privileges.
• Work with STIGs and fix/update vulnerabilities with STE/STN findings.
• Renew Linux server certificates and TLS updates.
• Work with automation software such as ANSIBLE to streamline updates and patching.
• Update SOPs and knowledge base documentation in Confluence.

Job Description

Required Experience

• Senior level Linux Systems Administration experience is required
• Experience with VMWARE, vSphere, VCF (VMware Cloud Foundations)
• Server and Hardware maintenance
• Knowledge of patching & updating Linux distributions regarding security findings.
• Renew Linux server certificates & applying updates to TLS security versions.

Salary: $190,000 - $200,000 annually
