UPMC Williamsport Observation Unit - Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Full Time

UPMC Williamsport is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for our Observation Unit. The shifts available are 7p-7a or 11p-7a.

This position offers a generous sign-on bonus:

  • New graduates (0 to less than 1 year experience): $10,000 bonus for a two-year commitment.
  • Experienced LPNs (1 or more years’ experience): $12,500 bonus for a two-year commitment.
Responsibilities
  1. The LPN functions as a vital member of the healthcare team, exercising sound nursing judgment based on their training, knowledge, and experience. They participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care, including focused assessments. Communication with licensed professionals and the healthcare team is essential, especially when patient needs exceed the LPN's scope or skills, or if the patient's condition deteriorates.
  2. Follow established policies, procedures, and practice guidelines, including IV procedures and Relationship Based Care. Develop daily goals and care plans that involve the patient as a partner, considering their holistic needs. Communicate patient conditions effectively and ensure comprehensive documentation to facilitate team communication.
  3. Contribute to a safe, caring, and compassionate patient experience by building healing relationships with patients, families, and colleagues. Participate actively in unit activities, provide assistance to team members, and deliver detailed patient education to support care transitions.
  4. Support professional development by mentoring new staff, seeking feedback, and engaging in continuous learning opportunities. Identify and participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and workplace environment.
  5. Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team and patients to achieve optimal outcomes. Maintain productive relationships, demonstrate accountability, and respect cultural differences. Promote a healthy work-life balance and communicate safety concerns promptly.
  6. Perform all duties in alignment with system-wide competencies and behaviors. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
