Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Texas is seeking an experienced Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for our outpatient clinic. You will perform a variety of patient care activities under the supervision of a staff nurse or physician, monitor vital signs, administer medications, and maintain accurate health records.

The role requires completion of a Board of Nursing accredited LVN program and Texas license, plus at least two years of LVN experience in hospital, clinic, or community

• Current Vocational Nursing license in Texas or temporary permit to practice pending full licensure.

Responsibilities

• Patient care activities in an outpatient clinic under supervision of staff nurse or physician.
• Monitor vital signs, administer prescribed medications and injections, and perform intake of OB/GYN clinic patients.
• Assessments: conduct basic patient assessments and report changes in condition to supervising medical staff.
• Documentation: maintain accurate electronic or written health records and update patient charts.

Work is performed under the direction of a staff nurse and/or physician as part of a total health care team in providing complete evaluations to patients. Works under the direct supervision of staff nurse or physician. No delegated supervisory authority; may instruct co-workers and supervise them in the performance of special procedures. Work is performed under usual clinic conditions, necessitating a high degree of contact with patients, families and clinic personnel.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of a Board of Nursing accredited program of vocational nursing. Current Vocational Nursing license in the state of Texas or the attainment of a temporary permit from the Board of Nursing to practice vocational nursing pending full licensure in the state of Texas.
• At least two years of LVN experience in a hospital, clinic or community-based environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years clinical experience as an LVN
