Reporting to the Director, Private Destinations Technical, this role requires strong construction management, leadership, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field required.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction project management with on-time, on-budget project delivery.
  • Experience managing large-scale projects, preferably international or remote locations.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, codes, safety standards and quality.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient with construction management software (Procore, MS Project, Blue Beam).
  • Travel up to 75% of the time, with extended stays in the Bahamas as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
  • Coordinate with onsite stakeholders to plan and execute construction activities.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets; monitor progress.
  • Provide leadership to onsite teams and manage daily operations.
  • Identify and address issues or delays with effective solutions.
  • Maintain regular communication with stakeholders and provide project updates.
  • Conduct site visits to ensure work aligns with plans and specs.
  • Oversee procurement of materials and resources for projects.
  • Manage contracts, change orders, and weekly project reports.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with company accommodations and safety guidelines.
  • Monitor arrivals/departure requests for contractors onsite and approve accordingly.
  • Collaborate with Director of Island Projects and Innovation on project scopes.
  • Develop and manage project budgets and track costs for transparency.
  • Adjust allocations to meet objectives while respecting financial constraints.

Position Summary

The Sr Lead, Technical Private Destinations role is responsible for working closely with the Director of Technical & Asset Management to oversee and manage construction projects on the Private Destinations. The Sr Lead, Technical Private Destinations will coordinate all phases of construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. This role requires a strong background in construction management and both exceptional leadership and problem-solving skills.

All duties and responsibilities are performed following Royal Caribbean International’s Brand Standards, the Royal Way philosophy, Company policies, and SOPs, Public Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental Guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all aspects of construction projects, from inception to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets are strictly adhered to.
  • Coordinate with onsite stakeholders to coordinate construction activities.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, and monitor progress against these plans.
  • Provide leadership and direction to onsite construction teams, managing daily operations to ensure smooth project flow.
  • Proactively identify and address potential issues or delays, implementing effective solutions.
  • Maintain communication with stakeholders, providing regular project updates and addressing any concerns or requests.
  • Conduct site visits, monitor construction progress, and ensure all work aligns with the project plans and specifications.
  • Oversee procurement of materials, equipment, and other resources necessary for the project.
  • Manage project documentation, including contracts, change orders, reports, and records, and prepare weekly project reports.
  • Ensure compliance of contractors using company accommodations.
  • Monitor arrivals and departure request of all contractors onsite. PM will approve all arrivals to the project site.
  • Collaborate with Director of Island Projects and Innovation throughout the project on various scopes and tasks.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring project delivery meets financial targets.
  • Adjust budget allocations as necessary to meet project objectives while maintaining financial constraints.
  • Track and report on project costs regularly to stakeholders.
  • Provide detailed breakdowns of project costs, including labor, materials, etc.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in construction project management, with a proven track record of successfully completing projects on time and within budget.
  • Experience managing large-scale construction projects, preferably in international or remote locations.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interface with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Blue Beam etc.).
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time, with extended stays in the Bahamas as required.
