Position Summary

The Sr Lead, Facilities & Technical Operations, Private Destinations role works closely with the Director of Technical & Asset Management to support the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the Private Destinations. The role oversees daily facilities activity, directs onsite teams and contractors, and manages maintenance work orders and purchasing through AMOS. It also supports smaller projects and system upgrades as needed. This role requires a strong background in facilities or site operations management, along with exceptional leadership and problem‑solving skills.
All duties and responsibilities are performed following Royal Caribbean International's Brand Standards, the Royal Way philosophy, Company policies, and SOPs, Public Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental Guidelines.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Site operations and support

  • Support the day-to-day operation of the site, including buildings, grounds, utilities, plant, equipment, and guest-facing amenities.
  • Conduct regular site walks and inspections, identifying defects, safety risks, and improvement opportunities, and ensuring corrective actions are completed.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for site maintenance and technical issues, escalating urgent items promptly.
  • Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programs and statutory and regulatory compliance checks.
  • Monitor asset condition and support lifecycle planning, repair-versus-replace recommendations, and long‑term capital needs.

Team and contractor management

  • Provide leadership and direction to onsite maintenance and technical teams, including scheduling, task allocation, and performance follow-up.
  • Coordinate with onsite stakeholders, such as operations, hospitality, and safety teams, to plan work around guest activity and minimize disruption.
  • Manage contractors and vendors to ensure work is completed to specification, on schedule, and safely.
  • Enforce permits to work, risk assessments, method statements, and site induction requirements.
  • Ensure compliance of contractors using company accommodations, and monitor arrival and departure requests of contractors onsite.
  • Support onboarding, training, and development of onsite team members.

AMOS, procurement, and inventory

  • Raise, assign, track, prioritize, and close work orders in AMOS, keeping asset records and maintenance history accurate.
  • Raise and manage purchase orders, obtain quotes, and coordinate delivery, receipt, and invoice matching.
  • Oversee spare parts, consumables, and chemical stock levels, including logistics for remote locations.
  • Produce regular reports on work order status, backlog, and maintenance performance.

Water systems and amenities

  • Oversee the safe operation and maintenance of pool plant and water systems, working with specialist contractors as needed.
  • Ensure water quality testing, chemical dosing, and records are completed and remain within compliant ranges.
  • Support the Legionella and water safety management plan, including risk assessments, monitoring, flushing, and documentation.
  • Coordinate repair, upgrade, and replacement programs for filtration, circulation, dosing, safety, and water feature systems.

Projects and upgrades

  • Support small to mid-size repair, renovation, and upgrade projects, coordinating scope, schedules, and contractors.
  • Coordinate with project managers on larger construction work to ensure site readiness, access, and handover into operations.
  • Maintain project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and records, and prepare weekly status reports.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Island Projects and Innovation on various scopes and tasks.

Communication and compliance

  • Maintain communication with stakeholders, providing regular updates and addressing concerns or requests.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, and help close out corrective actions.
  • Maintain compliance records, certificates, and service logs, ensuring they are current and audit-ready.
Financial Responsibilities
  • Support development and management of site maintenance and operating budgets.
  • Track spend against budget through AMOS and PO data, and report variances to stakeholders regularly.
  • Provide cost breakdowns for repairs, contractor services, materials, and labor.
  • Recommend budget adjustments as needed to meet operational priorities within financial constraints.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in facilities management, engineering, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent experience, is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in facilities management, building services, or site operations, including supervising teams and managing contractors.
  • Experience with a CMMS (AMOS preferred) and with purchase order and procurement processes.
  • Experience supporting maintenance and operations in a hospitality, resort, marine, or remote or international setting is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of building systems, safety regulations, and compliance requirements, including water safety. Pool Plant Operator or similar certification is preferred, or willingness to obtain it.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface with contractors, stakeholders, and onsite teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with project tools (e.g., Procore, MS Project) is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time, with extended stays in the Bahamas as required.
