Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Pre-employment urinalysis and physical tests required before starting.

Responsibilities

• Operates wheel loader, yard jockey truck, and trailer to process incoming waste for out-of-county hauling.
• Operates excavator, wheel loader, bulldozer, and compactor to process inert waste.
• Maintains landfill grounds with zero-turn mower and farm tractor.
• Operates weed eaters, hand blowers, edgers, and related equipment for site upkeep.
• Performs preventive maintenance on vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Conducts litter control duties and assists customers as needed.
• Participates in City Emergency Response Team when required.

The Senior Landfill Heavy Equipment Operator operates light and heavy equipment and performs general laboring duties.

• Operates a wheel loader, yard jockey truck, and trailer to process incoming waste to be hauled by contractor to out-of-county landfill site.

• Operates excavator, wheel loader, bulldozer, and compactor to process inert waste.
• Operates a zero-turn mower and farm tractor/rotary mower to maintain landfill grounds.
• Operates weed eaters, hand blowers, edgers, chemical sprayers, pole saws, etc. to maintain the landfill.
• Performs preventive maintenance on vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Performs litter control duties.
• Serves on City Emergency Response Team as required.
• Provides direction and assistance to customers.

• High School Diploma or GED;
• One (1) year of experience in a related field;
• Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and
• Valid State of Georgia Class "B" Commercial Driver's License.
