Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of oil & gas land experience.
  • Strong ability to review title documents, leases, contracts, maps, and related land agreements.
  • Advanced Excel with data validation and analytical tools.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Landman to manage land functions for a regional area.
  • Research ownership, leasehold status, title docs, and information for offers and transactions.
  • Prepare leases, agreements, forms, descriptions, and exhibits for review.
  • Draft summaries and route documents for review, approval, and execution.
  • Calculate and validate royalty and working interests using land data.
  • Analyze and establish leases, contracts, and documents in the land system.
  • Assist with processing lease payments and related documentation.
  • Coordinate file organization, routing, and maintenance of land records.
  • Ensure documents are filed per records-management policies.
  • Generate land reports and maps and support cross-functional teams.

Senior Land Technician
Position Summary

A well-established energy and natural resources organization is seeking an experienced Senior Land Technician to support land-related operations within an assigned regional area. Working closely with an assigned Landman, this position will research acreage ownership, prepare lease and contract documentation, calculate royalty and working interest percentages, and maintain agreements within the company’s land management system.

The Senior Land Technician will also provide day-to-day guidance to other Land Technicians, support process improvements, and coordinate with Land Administration, Legal, Records, Accounting, and other internal teams. The ideal candidate has extensive oil and gas land experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to independently manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with the assigned Landman to manage land functions for a designated regional area.
  • Research acreage ownership, leasehold status, title documentation, and other information related to lease offers and proposed transactions.
  • Prepare leases, agreements, forms, property descriptions, and supporting exhibits for review by Land and Legal personnel.
  • Draft agreement summaries and ensure completed documents are accurately routed for review, approval, and execution.
  • Calculate and validate royalty interests, working interests, and other ownership percentages using available title and land information.
  • Analyze and establish leases, contracts, and other agreements within the Quorum Land System or a comparable land management platform.
  • Assist with processing lease bonus payments and other land-related payment documentation.
  • Review monthly payment, obligation, and expiration calendars and make recommendations based on the available information.
  • Coordinate the organization, setup, routing, and maintenance of lease and contract files.
  • Ensure land documents are properly filed and maintained in accordance with records-management policies and procedures.
  • Generate land reports and maps, retrieve files, scan documents, and perform related administrative and analytical tasks.
  • Collaborate with Land Administration, Legal, Records, Accounting, and other departments to promote effective communication and efficient workflows.
  • Identify opportunities to improve land processes, communication practices, data accuracy, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Provide coaching, technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and process support to other Land Technicians.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for resolving questions and issues within the Land Technician group.
  • Promote compliance with company policies, procedures, internal controls, and documentation standards.
  • Partner with management and cross-functional teams to support internal and external audit requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Seven to ten years of land technician or closely related oil and gas land experience.
  • Strong understanding of oil, gas, and mineral leasing.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and interpret title documents, leases, contracts, legal descriptions, maps, and other land-related agreements.
  • Proven ability to accurately calculate royalty and working interest percentages.
  • Experience using a land management system; Quorum Land System experience is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, including formulas, functions, data validation, and analytical tools.
  • Excellent analytical, computational, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data and document accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments while meeting established deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a small, collaborative team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting oil and gas assets located in Texas and Louisiana.
  • Previous experience coaching or providing technical guidance to Land Technicians.
  • Experience supporting land-related audits, internal controls, or compliance initiatives.
