Job summary

Motion Recruitment Partners LLC is seeking a Sr. Java Developer for a financial services client in Newport Beach, CA. The role requires strong Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and CI/CD experience to build enterprise backend applications.

You will design, develop, test, and support scalable services, collaborate with product owners and QA, and optimize performance and observability while working onsite at least four days a week.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and support enterprise backend applications using Java, Spring Boot, Oracle, REST APIs, and related technologies.
• Build scalable services, integrations, and backend components that support business-critical workflows.
• Partner with Product Owners, QA engineers, and business stakeholders to refine requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Write maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code reviews, design discussions, and release readiness.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement durable fixes.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge-sharing materials.
• Identify opportunities to improve performance, resiliency, observability, developer productivity, and engineering efficiency.

Job description

Our client is a softwareand consulting company with long-standing client relationships and an emerging products division. Their primary expertise is in application development, data visualization, Information Technology (IT), and Their clients include large financial firms, utilities and Federal customers.

They are looking for a Sr.Java Developer with strong experience in Spring Boot, Rest API, Oracle, PostgreSQL, CI/CD, Microservices Architecture, SQL, Cloud experience responsible for building web applications alongside system architects for one of the top financial investment and bond trading firms in America.

this position is in Newport Beach CA at least 4 days a week onsite required.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, with strong hands-on Java development experience building enterprise applications.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot, REST APIs, service integrations, and backend application design.
• Strong Oracle database experience, including SQL development, query optimization, data modeling, and performance tuning.
• Experience building and supporting business-critical or distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, data structures, and software engineering best practices.
• Experience with Git-based workflows, CI/CD, automated testing, and production support.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently, partner with cross-functional teams, and drive work through completion.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience developing cloud-native applications and services.
• Experience with messaging or event-driven architectures, including AMPS, Kafka, or similar platforms.
• Experience working in Agile software development teams.
• Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar tools.
• Exposure to fixed income, trading technology, electronic trading platforms, new issue workflows, financial services, or asset management environments

The Offer
