Job summary

SHI International Corp. in Somerset, NJ seeks a Sr. IT Specialist - Patching Coordinator to own end-to-end Microsoft OS patching across enterprise endpoints and servers.

You will plan, test, approve, and deploy Patch Tuesday releases and out-of-band updates, coordinating with IT Operations, Infrastructure Engineering, Security, and business units to meet SLAs and compliance. You’ll drive patch lifecycle activities, pilot testing, risk assessment, documentation, and KPI reporting, while

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure and/or IT Operations.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS patching and related tools.
  • Experience with ITIL-based change management.
  • Ability to travel to SHI, Partner, and Customer Events.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the full Microsoft OS patch lifecycle (identification, risk prioritization, testing, deployment).
  • Maintain patch calendars aligned to Patch Tuesday and zero-day patch cycles.
  • Ensure adherence to defined SLAs and compliance requirements.
  • Partner with LOB application owners to define maintenance windows and testing requirements.
  • Obtain business validation and sign-off prior to deployment.
  • Communicate patch schedules, risks, and impacts to stakeholders.
  • Act as the escalation point for business-impact-related patching concerns.
  • Coordinate pilot deployments and structure testing activities.
  • Ensure validation of critical business applications before release.
  • Document testing outcomes and enforce go/no-go decisions.
  • Manage patch-related change requests within ITSM platforms (ServiceNow).
  • Coordinate phased patch deployment (Pilot, Pre-Production, Production).
  • Ensure rollback and contingency planning is defined.
  • Track patch compliance across endpoints and servers.
  • Develop KPI dashboards and executive reporting.
  • Support audit and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead root cause analysis for patch failures.
  • Drive remediation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with security teams for vulnerability remediation.
  • Coordinate across IT Operations, Engineering, Security, and GCC teams.
  • Support critical patching events, including after-hours deployments.
  • Ensure alignment across all stakeholders for patch cycles.

Job Summary

The Sr. IT Specialist - Patching Coordinator is responsible for end-to-end coordination of Microsoft OS patching across enterprise endpoints and server environments. This role ensures the successful planning, testing, approval, and deployment of Microsoft Patch Tuesday releases and out-of-band updates. The position acts as the central liaison between IT Operations, Infrastructure Engineering, Security (TVM), and Lines of Business (LOB) to align patching activities with business requirements, minimize operational risk, and meet defined SLAs and compliance objectives. This role is critical to maintaining security posture, system stability, and audit readiness across the enterprise. This role is required to report to the Somerset, NJ location on a hybrid basis.

Role Description
Patch Lifecycle Coordination
  • Coordinate the full Microsoft OS patch lifecycle (identification, risk prioritization, testing, deployment).
  • Maintain patch calendars aligned to Patch Tuesday and zero-day patch cycles.

LOB Engagement & Coordination

  • Partner with the LOB for exception process handling.
Testing & Validation
  • Coordinate pilot deployments and structure testing activities.

Change Management & Deployment
  • Manage patch-related change requests within ITSM platforms (ServiceNow).
  • Coordinate phased patch deployment (Pilot, Pre-Production, Production).

Compliance & Reporting
  • Track patch compliance across endpoints and servers.

  • Ability to manage and control scheduling activities.
  • Strong stakeholder management and coordination skills.
  • Ability to provide detailed patch reporting for senior leadership.
  • Understanding of ITIL and change management processes.
  • Ability to travel to SHI, Partner, and Customer Events.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in large enterprise environments.
  • Experience with vulnerability management tools.
  • ITIL Foundation Certification.

The estimated annual pay range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 which includes a base salary. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual.
