SpaceX is seeking a Sr. IT Network Engineer to design, implement and support our campus and data center networks, including wireless infrastructure. You will lead projects, enforce standards and develop automation, while ensuring reliable, scalable network services across SpaceX facilities.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of network experience, strong OSI knowledge, and hands-on experience with Cisco/Juniper/Arista switches and NAC. CCNP/CCIE or JNCIP/JNCIE is preferred.

SR. IT NETWORK ENGINEER

SpaceX is looking for an experienced network engineer with expertise in networking technologies that support routing, switching, dynamic multicast, Wi-Fi, network access control, automation, etc. This position will be directly involved with supporting and expanding our campus and data center infrastructure as well as our expansive wireless network using reliable and redundant design standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the design, implementation and troubleshooting of large-scale, complex wired and wireless networks
  • Configure, install, and support campus and data center networks
  • Troubleshoot wired/wireless networking related issues
  • Support the deployment of network access control (NAC) using 802.1X
  • Develop and enforce network policies and standards
  • Plan and prepare project roadmaps
  • Develop network automation tools to support our enterprise network
  • Monitor network health using in-house and 3rd party tools
  • Create and maintain proper documentation of our networks

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other STEM discipline and 7+ of years professional network engineering experience; OR 10+ years of professional network engineering experience in lieu of a degree

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Expert understanding of the OSI model and network standards
  • Hands on experience with the following:
    • Cisco Catalyst, Juniper, and Arista data center class switches
    • Cisco wireless LAN controllers or other wireless technologies
    • Network Access Control (NAC) using 802.1X
    • Wave Division Multiplexing and Fiber Optics
    • DNS, DHCP, SNMP, IP helpers, ARP, CDP, LLDP
    • BGP routing
    • Switch port security features
    • Network monitoring tools
    • Network documentation
  • Experience with Python scripting
  • Industry standard certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, or JNCIE

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Must have valid driver's license
