Job summary

Par Pacific Holdings is seeking an Inventory Accounting Analyst to support margin analysis within the refining segment across multiple regions including TX, WY, MT, WA, and HI. You will report to the Inventory Accounting Manager and collaborate with Commercial & Settlements, Billing/Contract, yield accounting, and internal audit teams.

The role emphasizes accurate inventory costing, monthly/quarterly variance analyses, and SOX controls documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting/finance experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Understanding of GAAP.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to research, solve problems, and implement improvements.
  • Ability to work independently in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written.
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Commercial & Settlements to understand monthly activity.
  • Review trade activity with Billing/Contract and gather prices.
  • Reconcile movements, roll forward inventory, and calculate yield.
  • Reconcile inventory and perform inventory costing analysis.
  • Prepare and oversee exchange activity and resolve discrepancies.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual variance analyses.
  • Conduct FIFO inventory calculations.
  • Prepare key reports for management review.
  • Review current period purchases and settlements related to title transfer and liabilities.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal auditors on controls documentation and SOX compliance.
  • Provide documentation to external auditors during quarterly SEC filings.

Position Overview

Inventory Accounting analyst at a growth‑oriented energy company. The role reports to the Inventory Accounting Manager and focuses on margin analysis within the refining business segment, supporting multiple regions including Texas, Wyoming, Montana, Washington, and Hawaii. Responsibilities include working with Commercial & Settlements teams, Billing/Contract teams, yield accounting, and internal auditors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Commercial & Settlements teams to understand monthly crude and refined product activity.
  • Coordinate with Billing/Contract to review trade activity, gather settled cargo volumes and prices.
  • Reconcile movements, roll forward inventory, and calculate yield with yield accounting.
  • Reconcile inventory and perform inventory costing analysis.
  • Prepare and oversee exchange activity and resolve discrepancies.
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual variance analyses of financial and statistical data.
  • Perform FIFO inventory calculations.
  • Prepare key reports for management review.
  • Review accounting of current period purchases and settlements as they relate to title transfer, current liabilities, and balance‑sheet presentation.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Complete special projects when assigned.
  • Collaborate with internal auditors on controls documentation and SOX compliance.
  • Provide documentation to external auditors during quarterly SEC filings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting/finance experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Understanding of GAAP and ability to apply it to corporate accounting needs.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to research, solve problems, and recommend process improvements.
  • Ability to work independently in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written.
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA designation.
  • Experience with SAP MM/FI/CO modules.
  • Cost/Inventory Accounting experience.
