Business Development Officer

The Business Development Director will collaborate with the Americas Corporate sales team to enhance Moody’s presence by creating new connections, developing client relationships, and identifying growth opportunities. The focus will be on one of the following sectors: Industrials, TMT, Consumers, and sub-sectors.

  • Understand the client base and market opportunities within the chosen sub-sector globally.
  • Coordinate with sales, product, and marketing teams to promote Moody’s vision and capabilities.
  • Develop a network of senior stakeholders (CIOs, CFOs, CCOs, CEOs, CROs) and engage with Moody’s leadership and client advisory boards.
  • Increase meeting activity to expand touchpoints within the Strategic Corporate sector.
  • Participate in key industry events to broaden Moody’s reach.
  • Establish strong links with industry associations.
  • Source opportunities through events, networking, profiling, and market intelligence.
  • Collaborate with product teams to gather market feedback and understand product offerings.
  • Work with management to identify growth opportunities and strategies.
  • Support colleagues through coaching, training, or leadership roles on specific opportunities.
  • Refer potential leads to sales teams.
  • Coordinate outreach plans with marketing, including PR, conferences, speaking engagements, and publications.
  • Identify opportunities, analyze risks, screen candidates, and build business cases.
  • Assist management in accelerating go-to-market strategies.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees (MBA, Master’s, Ph.D.) preferred.
  • Typically 10-12 years of industry experience within the sub-sector.
  • Proven success in developing client networks and maintaining relationships with risk professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance market drivers and trends.
  • Understanding of the competitive landscape in targeted sectors.
  • Experience in thought leadership, research, publications, and speaking engagements (preferred).
  • International experience is a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of conveying complex concepts to senior audiences.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time.

For US-based roles: The salary range is $172,900 - $250,600, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The role includes incentive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.
