We are looking for a knowledgeable and hands-on Indirect Tax Manager to join UnitedMasters! This role will manage our indirect tax function, with a primary focus on managing sales and use tax compliance and withholding tax filings for artists. This is a highly cross-functional role, ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, creative environment and is passionate about driving accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in a growing business.

Please note that this role is a Hybrid role based in our Brooklyn, NY office: three days in office and two days remote.

What You'll Do

• Oversee the preparation, review, and filing of sales and use tax returns across multiple jurisdictions.
• Lead the withholding tax process for artists, ensuring proper tax treatment, documentation, and reporting.
• Manage tax compliance calendars and ensure timely filing and payment of all indirect tax obligations.
• Act as the primary point of contact for indirect tax matters, including inquiries from internal teams, external advisors, and tax authorities.
• Collaborate with Legal, Artist Operations, Finance, and external vendors to ensure accurate and compliant tax practices.
• Monitor changes in tax laws and assess their impact on business operations, communicating key updates and implementing necessary changes.
• Support and manage any indirect tax audits or reviews.
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to scale compliance as the business grows.
• Assist in system implementations or upgrades related to indirect tax functionality.
• Maintain strong relationship with external consultants on tax matters
• Assist in special projects and perform additional duties as required
  
  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Experience managing or directly handling withholding taxes related to talent or artists is strongly preferred.
• Experience with Tax Software, i.e. Avalara, Vertex
• Strong understanding of U.S. state and local tax regulations, and familiarity with international indirect tax rules is a plus.
• Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and lead initiatives independently.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field5+ years of experience in indirect tax, including sales and use tax and/or withholding tax, preferably in a multi-jurisdictional or creative industry environment.

Salary Hiring Range: $105,000 - $120,000

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of many compensation, benefits and other reward opportunities we provide (e.g. bonus, stock options, 401(k) match, etc.)

Individual pay rate decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors.
