Job summary

MKS Instruments, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Import/Export Analyst to join our Global Trade Compliance team. You will support import/export compliance across units and regions, ensuring accurate product classifications for customs and export controls.

You will collaborate with Supply Chain, Engineering, Logistics, Finance, and Customer Support to maintain regulatory compliance while enabling business objectives. Strong HTS/ECCN knowledge and experience with FTAs are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or international trade, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in import/export compliance or global trade operations.
  • Strong HTS and ECCN knowledge.
  • Experience with Free Trade Agreements and regulatory responses.
  • Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Manage import and export trade compliance activities, including HTS classification, export classification (ECCN), country of origin determinations, restricted party screening, and export license reviews.
  • Qualify products for applicable free trade agreements and preferential trade programs, including USMCA, KORUS, ILFTA, and other regional agreements.
  • Support import and export operations by reviewing shipments, documentation, broker requests, customs declarations, and other trade transactions to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Respond to trade compliance inquiries from internal stakeholders, brokers, and logistics providers.
  • Perform trade compliance audits and data analytics to identify process improvements, mitigate compliance risks, and support duty savings and recovery opportunities.
  • Maintain trade compliance procedures, records, and documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

This role is responsible for supporting import and export compliance activities across multiple business units and regions. The successful candidate will ensure products are accurately classified for import and export purposes, support customs compliance initiatives, manage export control requirements, and partner with Supply Chain, Engineering, Logistics, Finance, and Customer Support teams to maintain compliance with global trade regulations while enabling business objectives.You Will Make an Impact By:Manage import and export trade compliance activities, including HTS classification, export classification (ECCN), country of origin determinations, restricted party screening, and export license reviewsConduct product classifications utilizing engineering specifications, technical drawings, bills of materials, and product documentation to ensure compliance with global customs and export control requirementsQualify products for applicable free trade agreements and preferential trade programs, including USMCA, KORUS, ILFTA, and other regional agreementsSupport import and export operations by reviewing shipments, documentation, broker requests, customs declarations, and other trade transactions to ensure regulatory complianceRespond to trade compliance inquiries from internal stakeholders, brokers, and logistics providersPerform trade compliance audits and data analytics to identify process improvements, mitigate compliance risks, and support duty savings and recovery opportunitiesSupport customs inquiries, audits, disclosures, and regulatory reporting requirementsMaintain trade compliance procedures, records, and documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirementsSkills You Bring:Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, International Trade, Logistics, or a related field, or equivalent experience5+ years of experience in import/export compliance, customs compliance, or global trade operationsStrong knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification methodologiesExperience with export controls, including ECCN classification, export licensing, and restricted party screeningExperience qualifying products under Free Trade Agreements and preferential trade programsExperience with supporting responses to customs inquiries, audits, CF28s, CF29s, and other regulatory requestsStrong analytical skills with experience auditing trade transactions and identifying duty savings opportunitiesAbility to interpret technical product information and collaborate effectively with engineering teamsExcellent communication and organizational skillsProficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred), trade compliance software, and Microsoft Office applications.Preferred Skills:Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) preferred.Physical Demands and Working Conditions:Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understandMust be able to exchange accurate informationConstantly operates a computer and other office productivity machineryWe are interested in a qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.
