Job summary

Kelso Industries, a nationwide HVAC solutions provider, seeks experienced HVAC Journeymen Technicians to service large commercial and industrial facilities in Houston and San Antonio markets. You will diagnose complex chillers, perform preventative maintenance, and optimize system performance while prioritizing safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Active Texas HVAC Journeyman License (TDLR).
• EPA 608 Universal Certification.
• 5+ years of commercial HVAC experience with heavy chiller systems.
• Experience with BAS/DDC controls platforms.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting across low/high voltage.
• Valid Texas driver's license in good standing.
• Able to lift 50 lbs and work in mechanical rooms and rooftops.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair large tonnage chillers (air- and water-cooled).
• Commission and start up chiller and controls systems for peak efficiency.
• Identify and resolve electrical, mechanical, and controls issues.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on chillers, towers, pumps, boilers.
• Interpret blueprints and control schematics.
• Document service work, repairs, and recommendations clearly.
• Communicate findings and next steps to customers.
• Adhere to safety requirements and EPA standards.
• Mentor apprentices and junior technicians when applicable.

Job Summary

We're looking for experienced HVAC Journeymen Technicians with deep expertise in a variety of commercial HVAC systems to join our service team. In this role, you'll handle complex diagnostics, repairs, preventative maintenance, and system optimization across large commercial and industrial facilities. The right candidate brings strong technical instincts, a safety-first mindset, and a track record of delivering quality service.We are looking for technicians to support the Houston and San Antonio markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair large tonnage chillers — air-cooled and water-cooled — including centrifugal, screw, and scroll configurations.
• Commission and start up chiller and controls systems, optimizing for peak efficiency.
• Identify and resolve electrical, mechanical, and controls-related issues.
• Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on chillers, cooling towers, pumps, boilers, and supporting equipment.
• Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
• Keep accurate, timely documentation of all service work, repairs, and recommendations.
• Communicate clearly with customers about system conditions, findings, and next steps.
• Adhere to all safety requirements, EPA standards, and internal company policies.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices and junior technicians when applicable.

Required Qualifications

• Active TDLR HVAC Journeyman License (Texas).
• EPA 608 Universal Certification.
• 5 or more years of commercial HVAC experience with significant exposure to heavy chiller systems.
• Demonstrated experience with BAS/DDC controls platforms.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting capability across both low and high voltage systems.
• Comfortable working independently with limited oversight.
• Valid Texas driver's license in good standing.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and operate in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces.

Qualifications

• Factory certifications or formal training on major chiller manufacturers.
• Hands-on controls programming or commissioning background.
• Prior experience in hospitals, industrial plants, or large-scale commercial buildings.
