Job summary

Kelso Industries in Charlotte, NC is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on commercial and industrial HVAC equipment across NC/SC markets.

You will diagnose rooftop units, boilers, chillers, and VRF systems; perform routine inspections; troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues; and ensure code-compliant, safe operation. EPA 608 cert required; travel possible.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; HVAC certification preferred.
• 3+ years of experience as an HVAC service technician or similar role.
• Experience servicing and/or installing VRF systems.
• EPA 608 certification required.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
• Willingness to travel within NC/SC markets.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair HVAC systems, including rooftop units, split systems, boilers, chillers, and heat pumps.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections for optimal performance and longevity.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues in HVAC equipment.
• Replace or repair defective components such as motors, compressors, fans, and thermostats.
• Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to clients and team members.
• Maintain accurate service records of work performed and parts used.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards and building codes.

What You'll Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or HVAC certification preferred.
• 3+ years of experience as an HVAC Service Technician or in a similar role.
• Experience servicing and / or install VRF systems.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical circuits, and mechanical components.
• EPA 608 certification (required).
• Ability to support work in the NC / SC Markets.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and customer service abilities.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

• NATE certification or equivalent.
• Experience with commercial HVAC systems and equipment.
• Familiarity with digital service tools and mobile work order platforms.
