Job summary

Lockton is seeking a Sr. Human Resources Business Partner to lead a full range of HR functions for a 3,000‑associate business unit across six locations. You will partner with senior leaders and travel as needed to align people strategies with business goals.

This role emphasizes strategic HR oversight, talent management, succession planning, performance improvement, and policy interpretation, within a privately held, independent firm known for its Best Place to Work recognition.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business‑Related Field preferred.
  • 10+ years as an HR Business Partner in a multi‑state environment.
  • PHR, SPHR and/or related certification and/or designation.
  • Solid knowledge of state and federal laws.
  • Ability to communicate and influence individuals and groups to gain buy‑in and acceptance of new ideas and approaches.
  • Proficiency using Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience using a variety of HR systems and tools.
  • Must be able to prioritize a heavy workload with exceptional organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel by car and aircraft (up to 25%).

Responsibilities

  • Foster partnerships with key stakeholders in the business and identify and implement strategic human capital solutions that support the current and future needs of the business.
  • Implement Talent Management rigor across internal departments, resulting in development plans, reduced performance issues and development of high potential/high performing talent resulting in increased performance.
  • Provide strategic HR support to leadership.
  • Develop succession plans and skills gap analysis, ensuring that they are consistently reviewed and effective actions are in place.
  • Drive development of HR related strategies and ensure implementation and execution.
  • Partner with managers and associates at all levels to ensure accurate interpretation of Company policies and procedures.
  • Provide advice and guidance on disciplinary actions and associate relations, including investigation and Performance Improvement Plan(s).
  • Ensure that performance appraisals are conducted in accordance with Company policy.
  • Maintain knowledge of progressive HR practices, trends and data points to drive enhancements.
  • Keep up to date on legal trends and compliance.

We are currently seeking a Sr. Human Resources Business Partner responsible for a full range of Human Resources functions. This position reports to the SVP, Director of Human Resources for a 3,000 associate business unit and requires an experienced HR expert who can strike a balance between operational thinking, HR program execution and process innovation. This role will be the HR business partner for a business unit of 850 associates spanning six locations focused on Risk Management and Property & Casualty insurance.
