Job description

As a Test Hardware Engineer at Nokia in Allentown, PA, you will play a crucial role in debugging and resolving complex hardware and software testing challenges within our innovative optical communication products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, interfacing with technicians and senior directors, ensuring high-quality test stations for our cutting-edge 800G/wavelength optical line modules. Working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you will not only support continuous improvement of test systems but also provide essential documentation to guide test station construction and vendor interactions.   • Debug and resolve complex hardware and software testing challenges to improve optical communication products.

  • Lead the development, prove-in, and release of advanced opto-electrical test stations for manufacturing.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring effective communication across all organizational levels.

  • Provide technical guidance and documentation to support test station construction and timely delivery.

  • Enhance test system uptime through debugging support to the process team and fostering continuous improvement.

  • Manage vendor relationships for procurement and support of test equipment, facilitating RMA and RFQ processes.

  • Create, maintain, and review detailed documentation, including BOMs, schematics, and mechanical drawings.

  • Train and mentor junior engineers, fostering an environment of growth and knowledge-sharing in the team.


You have:



  • BS Degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field

  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing environments

  • Working knowledge of analog and digital electronics with the ability to review electrical schematics

  • Familiarity with SQL and statistical processing software (e.g., JMP, Minitab)

  • Proficiency in a high-level Object-Oriented language (e.g., VB.NET, C#, Java)


It would be nice if you also had:



  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing environments

  • 2+ years of experience in the optical telecommunications industry, including test methodologies

  • Circuit design and PCBA layout experience

  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with electrical and optical test equipment
