Job description

Job Title: Sr. Hardware Engineer
Job Description

Duties: Must be able to work in a professional engineering team-based environment. Engineering teams are responsible for the design and integration of control systems for customer applications and processes. Duties may include leading a team in wiring diagram design and providing technical consultation. Team members have the opportunity to learn new skills in a rewarding and fast-paced environment that varies from customer to customer.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise controls hardware activities, including project documentation, customer/supplier meetings, and training employees on standards.
  • Plan and execute work within budgets, report metrics, forecast resources, and supervise personnel.
  • Ensure all work complies with specifications and expectations, applying automation, controls, and robotics knowledge.
  • Travel to customer sites as necessary for meetings, electrical problem-solving, or field checks.

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to read and understand electrical, pneumatic, and water schematics for industrial automation systems.
  • Proficiency with Eplan, system and component layouts, I/O needs, and process information.
  • Design and configure cable layouts, pneumatic concepts, power distribution, wiring circuits, robot interfaces, network diagrams, and I/O card diagrams.
  • Verify and update component tagging, use cable charts, and ensure wiring accuracy.
  • Research product data sheets, plan cable routing, and prepare wiring diagrams for customer release.
  • Interface with engineering staff and vendors, verify wiring diagrams in the field, and produce documentation and presentations.
Additional Information

Education and Experience: Minimum of seven years' experience designing wiring diagrams for industrial controls, with knowledge of multiple customer platforms. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Experience encompassing design to production, including software and commissioning.

Health, Safety, and Environment Responsibilities: Comply with safety procedures, use protective equipment, report unsafe conditions, attend training, and participate in accident investigations.
