Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to lead electrical hardware design of PCBAs for harsh environment Layer 2 and Layer 3 Industrial Ethernet switches in Raleigh, NC. You will drive hardware verification and provide lifecycle support from inception to end of life.

Responsibilities include collaborating with manufacturing to optimize production, analyzing product requirements to meet commercial objectives, and mentoring engineers as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is required.
• 6+ years of experience in analog and digital hardware design.
• Experience with PCBA design for harsh environments (-40C to +75C).
• Strong knowledge of EMC/EMI compliance testing.
• Proficiency in PCB layout and high-speed signaling considerations.
• PoE design experience (IEEE 802.3bt).
• Knowledge of FPGA design and embedded processing can be beneficial.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Computer Engineering (BSCE).


• Over 6 years of experience with both analog and digital design.


• Extensive experience with low voltage power supply design (DC up to 138V).


• Proficiency in schematic entry and design for EMC compliance.


• Experience in embedded CPU, microprocessor, and SoC design.


• Strong experience in networking design, including 1Gb/10Gb Ethernet, switching, and NOR/NAND flash memory.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in designing for harsh environments (-40C to +75C).


• EMC compliance testing experience (UL, CSA, TUV, FCC).


• PoE design expertise (IEEE 802.3bt).


• Knowledge of programmable logic and FPGA design.


• Experience with fiber optic interface design.


• Proficiency in PCB layout, especially high-speed and EMI considerations.


• Experience in DFM/DFT.


• Previous mentoring or leadership experience.

Work Environment

This role is based in a normal office environment with a moderate noise level. The job requires occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs., regular walking, sitting, bending, twisting, standing, and reaching. The position involves consistent work on a PC and requires the ability to sit and use a keyboard and/or telephone for over 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Raleigh, NC.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $130000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
