About the job

Do you want to significantly influence the future of Hopper's travel technology? We are hiring a Sr Software Engineer to join our Fintech team and contribute to the evolution of travel selling and booking technology, which accounts for 70% of our revenue.

As a Sr Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and deploying both frontend and backend systems that enhance Hopper’s user experience.

We seek an experienced Software Engineer to help grow and mature the Disruption and Insurance categories within Hopper’s fintech portfolio.

Daily responsibilities include:

1. Planning, investigating, and scoping upcoming projects.
2. Writing, reviewing, and improving code.
3. Learning new technical concepts, services, or GCP features that add value.

Hopper maintains a low-meeting culture but values regular team discussions and sprint planning.

Ideal candidate has:

• Extensive experience in full-stack development.
• Proficiency in React, TypeScript, and modern front-end libraries.
• Proficiency in Scala or other JVM languages like Kotlin or Java, with production experience.
• A commitment to improving system quality and reliability.
• Background in travel or fintech industries, understanding their unique challenges.
