Senior Full Stack Engineer
Brooksource
Fortune 50 Health Insurance Client
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join their digital organization and play a key role in the modernization of critical healthcare applications. This engineer will design, develop, test, and deploy scalable, high-quality web applications across the full technology stack.
The team is modernizing legacy systems using a modern cloud-native architecture and technologies including TypeScript, Node.js, Express.js, GraphQL, and Azure Cloud. The ideal candidate is a versatile, hands‑on engineer who can independently own the full development lifecycle while also providing technical leadership and helping establish modern engineering practices across the team.
This role will support a rewards program that encourages Medicaid and Medicare members to be proactive about their health. The team operates in an Agile/Scrum environment with two-week sprints and participates in PI Planning.
The Senior Full Stack Engineer will work closely with product managers, designers, engineers, and other stakeholders and should be a strong communicator who is comfortable speaking up, driving technical discussions, and providing leadership from the front.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Application Development: Design, develop, test, and deploy full-stack applications, including accessible front-end experiences, GraphQL APIs, and Node.js-based microservices.
- Front‑End Development: Build responsive, scalable, and accessible user interfaces using TypeScript and modern frameworks such as React, Vue.js, or Lit.
- Accessibility: Develop WCAG-compliant applications that provide an inclusive experience for users of all abilities.
- Back‑End & Microservices: Design and implement scalable, domain-driven microservices using Node.js and Express.js while applying API-first and cloud-native development principles.
- GraphQL Development: Design and implement GraphQL schemas and services, optimize queries and APIs, and integrate GraphQL across front‑end and back‑end systems.
- Performance & Security: Identify and address application performance issues through techniques such as lazy loading, code splitting, caching, and query complexity analysis. Implement security best practices including OAuth2, JWT, authentication/authorization, and input validation.
- Test-Driven Development: Apply TDD principles and develop comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using tools such as Vitest, Jest, and Playwright.
- Cloud & DevOps: Deploy and support applications in Azure Cloud, leveraging containerization and modern CI/CD practices. Experience with AWS or GCP is also valuable.
- Technical Leadership: Lead by example, contribute to architectural and technical decisions, establish development standards, and provide guidance to other engineers with minimal oversight.
- AI-Assisted Development: Help lead the team's adoption and effective use of AI-assisted engineering tools, including Claude Code and GitHub, to improve developer productivity, code quality, and engineering practices.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers, designers, engineers, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
- Agile Delivery: Participate in Scrum ceremonies, two‑week sprints, PI Planning, technical refinement, and other Agile development activities.
- System Modernization: Contribute to the ongoing modernization of legacy applications by helping transition systems to modern architectures, technologies, and cloud-native platforms.
- Documentation: Create and maintain clear technical documentation for APIs, microservices, front‑end components, architecture, and development processes.
