Job description

AdvancedMD AdvancedMD is a unified cloud suite of medical office software hosted on Amazon Web Services/AWS including practice management, electronic health records, and patient engagement, and offers managed medical billing services for independent practices. AdvancedMD serves an expansive national footprint of 65,000 practitioners across 14,000 practices and 900 independent medical billing companies. 8.8M insurance claims are processed every month on the AdvancedMD billing platform!

Role Summary

Are you an experienced full stack engineer who thrives on building high-performance web applications that make a real impact in healthcare? AdvancedMD is seeking a passionate and collaborative Senior Software Engineer — Full Stack to help shape the future of patient engagement and medical practice software.

You'll help design and implement cloud-based solutions that power the future of medical practice software — moving at an extremely high pace to simplify, modernize, and improve the product that thousands of healthcare providers depend on daily. In this role, you will drive the reduction of workflow complexity: eliminating legacy patterns, modernizing the UI, and building a cleaner, faster experience for our clients. You know how to leverage AI tools effectively to accelerate development and ship with confidence. You'll lead a team of offshore developers and QE engineers in a fast-paced, Agile environment — and work directly with the VP of Engineering and VP of Product on design, planning, and roadmap execution.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a healthcare technology leader where your technical expertise, creativity, and leadership will directly impact the experience of medical practitioners and patients nationwide. If you enjoy solving complex problems, collaborating across teams, and continuously learning new technologies, we'd love to meet you.

Essential Job Duties:
  • Design, develop, and maintain applications in accordance with project requirements using a Kanban-based delivery model
  • Modernize and simplify legacy applications — reducing complexity and accelerating delivery through thoughtful refactoring and modern patterns
  • Drive migrations and front-end modernization efforts across the platform
  • Build and maintain Angular front-end applications with solid knowledge of vanilla JavaScript, plain HTML, and CSS — including legacy integration patterns
  • Leverage AI tools to enhance development velocity and support integration of AI-driven features into existing products
  • Build and contribute to AI-powered capabilities including conversational chatbot interfaces and AI-driven task engine frameworks
  • Build and optimize RESTful APIs and enterprise-grade solutions with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Review requirements and changes to ensure code quality, maintainability, and best practices are followed
  • Drive process improvements in AI-driven development workflows and CI/CD pipelines — identifying opportunities where AI tooling can further streamline delivery
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application performance, observability, and scalability challenges
  • Continuously learn and apply new tools, frameworks, and technologies to enhance development practices
  • Lead and mentor a team of offshore developers and QE engineers, and work directly with the VP of Engineering and VP of Product on design, planning, and roadmap execution
What You'll Need to Get the Job Done
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business / Management Information Systems, or related field (experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional web development experience
  • 3+ years of enterprise development experience, including CI/CD, multitenant SaaS, performance, scalability, observability, and ownership
  • Strong proficiency in Angular, with solid knowledge of vanilla JavaScript, plain HTML, and CSS
  • Comfortable using AI coding tools (such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar) to accelerate day-to-day engineering work
  • Proven experience building RESTful services
  • Experience with SQL/T-SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Cloud experience (AWS preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead offshore development and QA teams
  • Strong technical problem-solving and communication skills
  • Proven experience delivering in a Kanban or continuous-flow environment
What Will Make us LOVE You
  • Hands-on experience with Claude Code or similar AI-assisted development environments
  • Experience with AngularJS-to-Angular migrations or large-scale front-end modernization
  • Familiarity with micro-frontend architectures
  • Experience building chatbot or conversational UI components and integrating AI-driven workflow engines
  • Experience building or integrating AI-powered features into production applications — using frameworks such as LangChain, OpenAI API, or similar
  • Understanding of prompt engineering and how to integrate LLMs sensibly into enterprise workflows
  • Experience with web security best practices
  • Proficiency with Git and CI/CD practices
  • Experience with C#, Azure DevOps, and Visual Studio Code
