Job summary

US Foods is seeking a diesel mechanic to maintain a safe and reliable fleet by performing preventative maintenance and repairs on all fleet equipment. Schedule: Sunday-Thursday nights 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM with OT available.

Pay range is $39-$42 hourly based on certifications and experience. Benefits include low-cost medical, dental, and vision for family coverage, paid time off, 401K with company match, and an Employee stock purchase plan.

Qualifications

  • Five years of verifiable hands-on heavy-duty diesel mechanic experience.
  • Experience with fleet maintenance software for diagnostics.
  • Ability to read and understand technical and service manuals.
  • Must furnish own personal hand tools.
  • Knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations pertaining to shop and fleet.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs per company standards.
  • Document repair orders, PM lists, and parts usage.
  • Handle road service calls; provide road rescue/transport as needed.
  • Log maintenance activity in the software system.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and inventory records.
  • Back up other maintenance shop personnel as needed.

Basic Purpose

To provide a safe and reliable fleet by performing preventative maintenance and proper repairs on all fleet equipment.

Schedule: Sunday - Thursday Nights 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM. OT Available, not required.

Pay range is $39 - $42 hourly based on certifications and experience.

The expected base rate for this role is between $39 and $42.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform preventative maintenance within company standards.
  • Complete documentation of all repair orders, PM list and parts accountability.
  • Handle road service calls; perform road rescue/transport equipment as needed.
  • Keep track of assigned repairs by logging in and out of the software system.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations and government guidelines.
  • Maintain inventory and proper recordkeeping.
  • Backup to other maintenance shop personnel.
  • Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and Certifications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have 5 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic.
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting ability using fleet maintenance software.
  • Successfully demonstrated independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must furnish own personal hand tools.
  • Ability to comply with EPA and OSHA regulations pertaining to the shop and fleet.
  • Ability to read and understand technical and service manuals.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to communicate with co-workers and drivers with demonstrated teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
  • Computer and software experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • JPRO software experience.
  • Welding ability Knowledge with electrical schematics Basic Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
  • Leadership experience or qualifications.
  • Valid Class A CDL license and DOT certification EPA 608 (Type 2 or Universal) certification.

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between $39 and $42. This role may also receive overtime compensation and shift differential where applicable.
