Job summary

US Foods in Rock Hill, SC is seeking a Diesel Reefer/ Refrigeration Technician to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on fleet refrigeration systems (Thermo King & Carrier). Candidates should have at least 3 years hands-on experience, EPA 608/609, own tools, and willingness to travel for training.

  • 3 years verifiable hands-on experience as a Fleet Reefer/Refrigeration technician.
  • TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certifications.

  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to reefer equipment repairs.
  • Own personal hand tools and ability to read technical manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete repairs on diesel reefer equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance within manufacturer standards.
  • Mentor other maintenance shop personnel.
  • Receive road calls and coordinate with third party vendors.
  • Document repairs and parts used in fleet maintenance software.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment according to safety rules.

BASIC PURPOSE

To provide a safe and reliable fleet by performing preventative maintenance and proper repairs on all fleet equipment.

Schedule: Sunday - Thursday 2:00pm - 10:30pm

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete all required repairs on diesel reefer equipment (THERMO KING & CARRIER TRAILER REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS, Reefer Microprocessors, etc.).
  • Perform preventative maintenance within manufacturer standards.
  • Mentor other maintenance shop personnel.
  • Receive road calls, assign third party vendor, and work with business partners on plan of action.
  • Utilize fleet maintenance software system tablet to fully document equipment repair and parts used.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations and government guidelines.
  • Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certifications.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

RELATIONSHIPS
  • Internal: All Fleet Technicians, Drivers, Coordinators and Manager.
  • External: Dealer Service Managers.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Onsite: The associate in this role is expected to perform assigned responsibilities inside a US Foods maintenance facility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have 3 years of verifiable hands‑on experience as a Fleet Reefer/Refrigeration technician.
  • TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certifications.
  • Must be willing to travel and attend training provided by US Foods.
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to reefer equipment repairs.
  • Successfully demonstrated independent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Must furnish own personal hand tools.
  • Ability to read and understand technical and online service manuals.
EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent required.

CERTIFICATIONS/TRAINING
  • EPA 608 (Type 2 or Universal)
  • EPA 609 Certifications
LICENSES
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to comply with EPA and OSHA & DOT regulations as pertaining to the shop and fleet.
  • Computer and software experience/ Noregon Diag Equip/A/C Recovery, Etc.
  • Able to repair and overhaul warehouse equipment.
  • Welding ability
  • Valid Class A CDL license and DOT certification

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law.

The expected base rate for this role is between $36.50- 36.50 per hour.

This role will also receive overtime compensation.
