Job summary

Engineering Resource Group, Inc. is seeking a Senior Plumbing and Fire Protection Designer to support building and facilities projects across industrial, laboratory, pharmaceutical, healthcare, higher-education and commercial sectors.

You will develop plumbing and fire protection designs from field investigations through construction documents, design water, sewer, drainage, and gas systems, and lay out sprinkler and standpipe networks per NFPA standards. Mentoring junior staff is expected.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in plumbing and fire protection design.
• Advanced proficiency with Revit and coordinated construction document production.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Working knowledge of NFPA 13 and NFPA 14.
• Experience performing field surveys and documenting existing building systems.
• Experience mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Develop plumbing and fire protection designs from field investigation through construction documents.
• Design domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage and natural gas systems.
• Lay out sprinkler and standpipe systems per NFPA standards.
• Build and coordinate Revit models, drawings, details and schedules with architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical disciplines.
• Survey existing facilities, document existing conditions and recommend renovations and upgrades.
• Work with engineers on system sizing, calculations and equipment selection.
• Perform QC reviews of drawings and models for constructability, coordination and completeness.
• Support construction administration, including shop drawing and submittal review and RFI responses.
• Mentor junior designers and engineers.

• Develop plumbing and fire protection designs from field investigation and concept through construction documents.
• Design domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage and natural gas systems.
• Lay out sprinkler and standpipe systems per applicable NFPA standards.
• Build and coordinate Revit models, drawings, details and schedules with architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical disciplines.
• Survey existing facilities, document existing conditions and recommend renovations and upgrades.
• Work with engineers on system sizing, calculations and equipment selection.
• Perform QC reviews of drawings and models for constructability, coordination and completeness.

• Minimum 10 years of experience in plumbing and fire protection design within an engineering consulting or A/E environment.
• Advanced proficiency with Revit, including coordinated construction document production.

• Working knowledge of plumbing, building and fire protection codes, including NFPA 13 and NFPA 14.
• Experience performing field surveys and documenting existing building systems.
• Experience with fire protection hydraulic calculations and associated design software a plus.
• Experience mentoring junior staff a plus.
