Job summary

Engineering Resource Group, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer specializing in Plumbing & Fire Protection to deliver building systems design for industrial, life sciences, institutional and commercial facilities.

You will design plumbing systems, fire protection networks and support the BIM workflow with Revit-based drawings and equipment schedules. Responsibilities include surveys of existing facilities, coordination with multiple disciplines, and construction-phase support with shop

Qualifications

• BS Mechanical, Architectural or related Engineering degree.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in building systems or MEP consulting design.
• EIT certification.
• Hands-on design experience with plumbing and/or fire protection systems.
• Experience with Revit and AutoCAD.
• Working knowledge of building, plumbing and fire codes, including NFPA 13 and NFPA 14.
• PE license a plus.
• Fire protection hydraulic calculation experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, natural gas and related plumbing systems, including sizing calculations and equipment selection.
• Design sprinkler, standpipe and fire pump systems to NFPA and local code requirements.
• Produce construction documents (drawings, specifications and equipment schedules) in a Revit-based BIM workflow.
• Survey existing facilities and evaluate the condition and capacity of in-place plumbing and fire protection systems.
• Coordinate system routing and interfaces with architectural, structural, HVAC and electrical disciplines.
• Provide construction phase support: shop drawing and submittal review, RFI responses and vendor/contractor coordination.
• Prepare engineering studies and recommendations while managing tasks against budget and schedule across concurrent projects.
