Summary

Position plays a key role in developing business plans and analyses for the management of the FD+C Function for JHHS and the Affiliates. Contribute to the development of FD+C financial systems and applications; Assist project managers in reporting and understanding the Financial aspects of projects; Train, mentor, and motivate the financial analysis staff. Develop new systems and methodologies for Department members to extract and analyze data; Improve the long-range/business planning process and guidelines; Improve methods and tools for business unit financial modeling and forecasting; Analyze and evaluate programs and products.

Essential Functions

Position assists in preparing the detailed Facilities Design and Construction (FDC) annual operating budget to support JHHS’s capital projects by using various software applications, such as SAP, BW Analysis, Excel, PMWeb project management system, and the Capital Reporting Cash Flow tool to plan, assemble, analyze, manipulate, and format data and/or reports for various stakeholders. Position requires a strong knowledge of budgeting, project control, contract administration, cost accounting theory, Excel, and relevant integrated financial systems such as SAP with an emphasis on construction and equipment-related projects. Ensures Project Managers have a working knowledge of SAP & Financial Reporting for Project tracking/Reporting & provides training where needed. Position is responsible for overseeing the timely & accurate processing of invoices, check requests, and responding to A/P related inquires. Position is responsible for the supervision of the invoicing process, check requests, and A/P and vendor-related inquiries as necessary. Responsible for resolving issues with Affiliates & other departments for Capital Project related to Capital Project expenditures. Position performs a variety of professional accounting duties for the capital projects managed by The Johns Hopkins Health System Facilities department, which include project reporting, recording of financial transactions, reconciling balance sheet accounts, month-end closing, preparation of invoice accrual and retainage cost information to support project forecasting, and assisting in the preparation of the operating budget financial statements and reports for management review. Position works closely with the Assistant Director of Project Accounting to coordinate and ensure internal structures and systems are consistent with JHHS systems and reporting requirements. Position actively works with all levels of management to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare relevant FDC operating budget financial reports. Established track record of utilizing managerial, communication, and analytical skills to plan and implement problem-solving approaches for a group of executive-level decision makers Experience in performing cost-benefit analysis, economic assessments, and new venture business evaluations using financial modeling/forecasting techniques and other analytical tools. Ability to supervise and motivate other staff members in the development and presentation of analytical studies, including attention to methodology and details of analysis, established deadlines, and management of multiple projects.

Education

MBA preferred. Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a suitably business field with related business field.

Work Experience

A minimum of (10) ten years of accounting experience with a particular focus in a healthcare construction, construction cost accounting, and asset accounting environment preferred but not necessary. Over 10 years of finance experience, 5 in a management position and at least 5 of which were in an analytical role. Work experience will be considered instead of educational requirements. Expert knowledge of construction contracts, construction delivery methods, payment requisition policies, percentage of completion contract methods (e.g., design/build, lump sum, construction management). General knowledge of Construction Specification Institute (CSI) and American Institute of Architects (AIA) forms and formats. Expert knowledge of activity-based cost coding, cost analysis, and cost reporting management and development of staff, experience with databases, and managing data into meaningful information. Advanced knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) with respect to construction cost accounting, capital budgeting, operating budgeting, SAP project systems, and PMWeb project management software. Intermediate to expert knowledge in the use of financial software applications including SAP, SAP Analysis tool, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Word processing is required.

Salary Range

$37.60/hour - $62.08/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
