Job summary

Michaels Companies Inc. (Irving, TX) seeks a finance professional to oversee entitlement accounting and related financial processes. You will supervise a Financial Analyst, manage monthly vendor entitlements, and contribute to reporting and budgeting for entitlements and purchases.

Preferred candidates hold 4–6 years of experience with strong Excel/Access skills, and familiarity with SAP, Oracle, and Hyperion.

• Supervisory experience required.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Access skills.
• Macros and SQL experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee entitlement programs and manage monthly vendor entitlements.
• Handle financial reporting and month-end close—deductions, accruals, forecasts, and budgets for entitlements.
• Maintain entitlement application and invoice register with IS and consultants.
• Supervise Financial Analyst.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Major Activities

Oversee Entitlement Programs:

• Track entitlements and monitor Vendor Partnership Agreements
• Address vendor requests and other issues
• Verify and research vendor reimbursement issues
• Interface with buyers to satisfy vendor needs
• Manage entitlement monthly billing process
• Manage and control vendor entitlement system
• Supervise Financial Analyst

Financial Reporting & Month End Close Process:

• Assure accurate deductions, coding and accruals
• Prepare monthly and quarterly reports
• Prepare monthly forecasts and annual budgets for entitlements and purchases

Maintain and Enhance Entitlements Application and Invoice Register:

• Work with IS and outside consultants on the continuing maintenance and enhancements of the Access-based application to generate entitlement claims, track entitlement data and other key vendor information

Other duties as assigned

Preferred Education/Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office skills (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) and financial software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Hyperion)

Minimum Type of Experience Required

• 4 to 6 years of related work experience
• Supervisory experience
• Strong Excel skills
• Strong Microsoft Access skills
• Macros and Sequel experience a plus

Other

• Prior retail experience a plus
