Job summary

The Planet Group is assisting a client in the United States to hire a Senior Financial Accountant to drive key accounting initiatives during a growth and transformation period.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in accounting within Software/SaaS, strong GL and reconciliations, and experience with ASC 842 lease accounting and software capitalization. Advanced Excel and ERP proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in software/SaaS.
• Strong general ledger, reconciliation, and month-end close skills.
• Exposure to ASC 842 and lease accounting.
• Advanced Excel skills and ERP system experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex reconciliations including intercompany, AP, AR, and balance sheet items.
• Support month-end and quarter-end close with journal entries and GL accounting.
• Assist with entity integrations and cross‑unit accounting processes.
• Collaborate with finance leadership on technical accounting matters (ASC 842, software capitalization).
• Strengthen accounting processes, reporting, and internal controls across functions.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex account reconciliations, including intercompany, AP, AR, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support month-end and quarter-end close activities, including journal entries and general ledger accounting.
• Assist with entity integrations and operational accounting processes across multiple business units.
• Partner with finance leadership on technical accounting matters, including ASC 842 (lease accounting) and software capitalization.
• Help strengthen accounting processes, reporting, and internal controls.
• Provide accounting support across multiple functions and special projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a software/SaaS environment.
• Strong general ledger, account reconciliation, and month-end close experience.
• Exposure to technical accounting concepts, particularly ASC 842.
• Advanced Excel skills and ERP system experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Revenue accounting experience (ASC 606).
• Experience supporting multi-entity or high-growth organizations.
• Familiarity with AI-driven finance and accounting tools, including Claude, is a plus.
