Role Summary

The Sr. Field Service Technician will be responsible for overdelivering on the internal and external customer experience at our service locations. The ideal candidate will possess the technical acumen and the ability to provide a strong level of customer service. If you're able to think quickly on your feet, have a go-getter attitude, possess great communication skills, and have a passion for adventure, then we want you on the team. You will be working with our internal partners daily to assist with service needs and coordinate with our Service, Vehicle, Delivery Operations, and Field Service Engineer teams. This role requires a dynamic and resourceful leader with excellent communication skills, who will foster cross-functional interaction and promote a culture of continuous improvement to support Service teams and customers within a Service center. To succeed, you must have a customer-first approach, thrive in ambiguous environments, and tackle challenges with creativity and flexibility. Experience in automotive, process standardization, continuous improvement, and managing escalations is a plus.

Responsibilities
  1. Follow Rivian repair procedures efficiently without compromising quality and safety.
  2. Perform diagnosis, repairs, installations, and inspections on vehicles.
  3. Leverage understanding of schematics and diagrams to diagnose and resolve repair issues accurately.
  4. Perform vehicle repairs outside of a service center setting.
  5. Conduct road tests to ensure repair quality.
  6. Manage parts operations including ordering, receiving, shipping, and inventory.
  7. Ensure quality standards are met through understanding of parts department processes.
  8. Stay updated with technical skills and training.
  9. Support campaigns and containment initiatives.
  10. Demonstrate administrative competence using Microsoft Office tools.
  11. Maintain high-quality work and efficiency with minimal supervision.
  12. Work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  13. Provide service support to the field to assist the Service organization.
  14. Communicate professionally in a customer-facing environment.
  15. Support, coach, and mentor other technicians as assigned.
  16. Document repairs properly and accurately.
  17. Be prepared to transition from remote to on-site work, possibly at a nearby service center.
  18. Travel to support locations as required until local Service Centers open, including production plants.
  19. Operate remotely until local service centers are operational, if applicable.
Qualifications
  1. HS Diploma or GED preferred.
  2. Graduation from an accredited automotive repair school or equivalent vocational program preferred.
  3. Extensive experience in HV diagnostic work.
  4. 10+ years' experience working on high voltage vehicle systems preferred.
  5. Understanding of HVIL and high voltage architecture.
  6. Minimum 3 years' experience as a shop foreman, team lead, or trainer preferred.
  7. Excellent communication skills.
  8. Ability to diagnose root causes and suggest solutions.
  9. Experience in Continuous Improvement processes.
  10. Experience with test tools like PICO-Scope, PCAN, Kavaser Memorator, etc.
  11. Extensive experience in bumper-to-bumper diagnosis and repair.
  12. Ability to drive a non-commercial truck and trailer preferred.
  13. Valid driver's license with a clean record.
  14. Parts department and billing experience preferred.
  15. Experience with work order management systems.
  16. Experience in start-up environments preferred.
  17. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  18. Physical ability to perform occupational tasks up to 50 lbs.
  19. Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  20. Ability to interpret documents and schematics.
  21. Minimum age of 21.
  22. Availability for a 40-hour workweek, including weekends and holidays, with shifts possibly in evenings, overnights, or early mornings.
Pay Disclosure

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Washington Based Applicants: $41.95 - $62.96 per hour (actual compensation depends on experience, location, and other factors).
