Job summary

Siemens is seeking a Sr CS Application Engineer in the Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation unit. This role can be worked remotely and reports to our HQ in Wendell, NC.

You will create technical and commercial field service proposals, review customer specifications, and coordinate with sales, product development, and other engineers. The position emphasizes bid processes, LOA documentation, and CRM tracking.

Qualifications

• 5+ years engineering/PM/field service experience in transmission/distribution.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiating, writing and presentation skills.
• Proven goal-driven success in multicultural teams.

Responsibilities

• Create technical and commercial field service proposals with focus on complex modifications, maintenance, and long-term service agreements.
• Review and mark-up of customer specifications.
• Collaborate with Siemens Regional and Product Business Development and other teams on proposals and projects.
• Prepare proposal documents including LoA and other contractual details.
• Support sales managers during negotiations and clarifications.
• Track opportunities using Siemens CRM tools and ensure smooth handover to project execution.

About Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation:

The Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing into our Future Grids portfolio and applications to create the power distribution grid of the future. We are looking for a Sr CS Application Engineer. This position can be worked remotely and reports to our HQ in Wendell, NC.

Working with our BDMs, you will create technical and commercial field service engineering and/or modify proposals based on review and mark-up of customer’s technical specifications.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Creation of technical and commercial field service proposals with a focus on complex modifications, preventative maintenance, and long term service agreements.
• Review and mark-up of customer’s technical specifications
• Collaborate and communicate with both Siemens Regional and Product Business Development, other sales channels, and other Application Engineers on proposals, projects and opportunities
• Coordinate activities during the preparation of proposal documents describing technical, financial and legal aspects of the offer
• Cost calculation for service scope of supply
• Participation of bid preparation, scope, schedule, budget and division of responsibilities between team members
• Preparation of all proposal documents including official LoA (Limit of Authority) documents
• Support sales managers during negotiations and clarifications
• Keep track of all opportunities via Siemens CRM tools
• CRM and LOA processes are key requirements and metrics for accurate pipeline management and bid approval process respectively
• Ensure that all relevant project information, documentation and communication are handed over to project execution organization after contract award
• Handover to project organization according to PM@Siemens guideline
• Participate in improvement of sales tools, processes and procedures to establish “best in class” bidding processes

Basic Qualifications:

• 5+ years engineering/project management/field service experience in transmission and/or distribution products, or equivalent
• Must have excellent interpersonal, negotiating, writing and presentation skills in order to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts
• A history of measurable goal-driven success
• Success in working in a multicultural team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding and/or work experience with some or all of the following areas is preferred:
• Medium voltage switchgear (both AIS and GIS)
• LV switchgear and breakers
• Review of detailed specifications
• Experience using Sieops (Salesforce)
