Job summary

Yorktel in Tampa is seeking a Senior Field Engineer to lead the installation, commissioning, and management of large-scale networked AV and videoconferencing systems. You will ensure on-time, on-budget delivery while upholding technical standards and client satisfaction.

You will coordinate with the engineering team, subcontractors, and clients, provide daily status updates, and deliver post-installation documentation and training. Domestic travel is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in network, audiovisual, or video conferencing system integration.
  • College degree, military technical college graduate, or equivalent work experience.
  • Desirable certifications: Polycom/Tandberg/Cisco Videoconference Engineer and related AV certifications.
  • Proficiency in video/audio/control network infrastructure support.

Responsibilities

  • Lead installation, replacement, and configuration of integrated AV components and networked codecs.
  • Test, commission, and calibrate DSP, displays, and control systems.
  • Provide daily status updates and flag issues impacting completion.
  • Maintain project documentation and collaborate with internal teams and subcontractors.
  • Engage with clients to confirm requirements and ensure satisfaction.
  • Ensure projects stay on time and within budget; manage risks.
  • Support handoff to services after project completion.
  • Prepare post-installation documentation, including red-lined drawings.

Job description

Senior Field Engineer

Responsible for the installation, commissioning, and management of large‑scale commercial networked audio/visual and videoconferencing systems, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget while maintaining technical standards and client satisfaction.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Communicate client, site and project issues to stakeholders and PMO, ensuring resolution.
  • Respond to complex technical inquiries and provide detailed solutions.
  • Safeguard confidential information in accordance with company policies.
  • Provide daily technical updates to the project team.
  • Document customer requirements and job site conditions.
  • Deliver post‑installation documentation, including red‑lined drawings and network details.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineering team members.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Engage with internal staff, client representatives, trades, and subcontractors.
  • Oversee subcontractors and other installation engineers.
  • Ensure projects stay on time and within budget, communicating any risks.
  • Adhere to company technical standards and practices.
  • Interpret technical specifications, schematic drawings, and architectural diagrams.
  • Follow Yorktel policies and procedures.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
Technical Job Responsibilities
  • Lead installation, replacement, and configuration of integrated system components, networked codecs, control systems, and audio DSP devices.
  • Test and commission final installations, including calibration of DSP and AV control systems.
  • Provide daily project status updates, promptly flagging issues impacting completion.
  • Calibrate audio systems, including AEC and RF components.
  • Calibrate displays for color and other settings.
  • Conduct hands‑on client training upon project completion.
  • Secure Customer Acceptance Forms and returned red‑lined drawings.
  • Provide post‑installation support during transition to services departments.
  • Handle additional duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Knowledge of video/audio conferencing standards.
  • Familiarity with audiovisual, videoconferencing, and IT products.
  • Professionalism, integrity, and teamwork.
  • Exceptional customer service and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Project, Excel, Word).
Education & Experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in network, audiovisual, or video conferencing system integration.
  • College degree, military technical college graduate, or equivalent work experience.
  • Desirable certifications: Polycom/Tandberg/Cisco Videoconference Engineer, Audio DSP (Polycom, ClearOne, BiAmp), AVIXA CTS with Advanced CTS‑I, CompTIA Network or CCNA.
  • Proficiency in video/audio/control network infrastructure support.
Additional Qualifications
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Extensive sitting, standing, and walking required.
  • Domestic travel, including multi‑night stays.
  • Valid passport; international travel possible.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Background check and/or drug test may be required.
  • Willingness to apply for security clearances and related clearances.
