Yorktel is currently seeking a Sr. Field Engineer who will be part of a team which is responsible for designing and maintaining various video distribution and digital signage solutions. They will oversee device and network performance and ensure problems are captured, corrected, and reported on.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage the configuration, upgrade, and troubleshooting of devices within the contract
• Able to work with various manufacturers to design and maintain video distribution/digital signage infrastructure
• Perform pre-installation set up and testing; post installation calibration and commissioning; technical support and training for lower-level engineers.
• Need to perform testing in agency provided facilities. Testing and implementation may require labor outside of normal business hours or days in tandem with other engineers and agency staff.
• Provide comprehensive technical design/drafting/documentation/support for project management.
• Develop test plans including post test results.
• Able to evaluate new products, and coordinate and conduct testing of products and updates.
• Be able to explain in layman’s terms problems and planned solutions to the other teams and the customer.
• The engineer shall be responsible for mentoring other lower tiered technical personnel including helpdesk

Skills & Abilities

• Should have familiarity to work using Visio or other related software
• Must understand large scale on-promise web conferencing technologies.
• Understanding of basic core networking and deployment, which includes switch and router configuration, firewalls, and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of basic server support, which includes VMware, Windows Server, active directory, and load balancing technologies.
• Understanding of basic SQL database management, including installing, configuring, and tuning SQL databases is a plus.
• Strong business acumen and analytic competence.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
  
  

Education & Experience

• Must have experience in both unicast and multicast video delivery deployment and troubleshooting.

• Domestic travel requiring multi-night stays within and at times outside the local work area.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license.
• Requires extensive sitting, standing, and walking.
• Must be willing to apply for and receive suitability clearance
• Must be willing to complete background checks and drug tests as required by current or future contracts.
