Position Summary and Purpose:

The Field Applications Engineer will work with customers, regional sales managers, and manufacturers’ representatives to support successful sales conversion. This includes any pre-sales activities, where one must assist in formulating the product specification as per the customer's needs, and accelerate the sales procedure accordingly by providing post-sales support to ensure customer projects enter production without any issues. The ideal candidate will also need to design the training material involved in the technical field training and assist in providing field training to the sales team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in managing Menlo Micro’s products and other details of sales and service requests while also providing technical support to customers
  • Analyze system problems in installed application systems, check for technical resolution and its working condition, and fixing the same if required
  • Collaborate with the sales team, engineers, and product managers to obtain accurate information of application usage, system operations, and product management
  • Prepare technical elements of a proposal, formulating the intricacies involved in defining the technical solution guidelines for the sales team
  • Assist customers with the evaluation of Menlo Micro’s products or evaluation kits. Provide proper models that customers need for design simulation. Identify any differences between established versus customer results and provide modification recommendations, if applicable
  • Troubleshoot system applications if requested by a customer, resolving other engineering issues regarding systems application, conducting regular follow ups on customer's activities, and monitoring the same for obtaining new sales opportunities
  • Prepare relevant records, data, and documents for product presentations, conduct training sessions for new products and services, and support the sales team in organizing the presentation and training of product demonstrations
  • Coordinate with the sales and marketing team, systems applications team, and other executive designers for designing proper application systems, and formulating the product specification as per the customer's needs
  • Review customers’ design drawings, schematics, layouts to ensure they follow company design guidelines and recommend changes to improve performance. Check customer’s Bill-of-Materials (BOM) and confirm proper components were selected to support company solutions
  • Provide technical market intelligence and support corporate strategy for future products from a technical perspective
  • Evaluate the customers’ requirements regarding systems application and administering the technical, technological, and functional aspects of proposals accordingly as instructed
  • Assist the applications engineering manager with performing the desired tests and installation procedures, preparing detailed schedules for project specification, conducting research on market trends in field applications, and analyzing the emerging trends for recommending new application engineering products
  • Setting up demo systems in company sponsored/participated seminars, conferences, and meetings for promoting applications utilizing company products, bullet-proofing the performance and credibility of systems application in such events
  • Provide technical training in consumer-specific applications of various application engineering products in the developmental stage to the branch personnel for adequate management of the same
  • Serve as the main focal point for customer’s failure analysis and applications support
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or electrical engineering, and 10 years+ of customer support on semiconductor or related fields
  • Ability to interact with customers on different levels: Engineering, FAE, Sales, Procurement, Product Management Supply Chain, or C-level
  • Strong team spirit. Proactive and professional attitude
  • Ability to work in a global and diverse environment
  • Willingness to learn and improve
  • Language skills: Excellent communication, verbal, and written fluency in English. Additional language expertise is a plus
  • This role requires domestic and international travel up to 20%.
