Job summary

GlobalFoundries in Malta, New York, seeks a Failure Analysis Laboratory technician to support sample prep, imaging and analytical techniques for semiconductor failure analysis in a 300mm fab.

The role requires an associate degree in science or engineering, English fluency, and the ability to work a 12-hour shift while following safety procedures and contributing to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Education required: 2-year technical/associate degree or equivalent military training or experience.
• Experience in an analytical laboratory, preferably failure analysis, materials science, or inorganic chemistry.
• Fluency in English language – both written & verbal.
• Ability to perform 12-hour day shift schedule.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine analytical jobs using defined procedures meeting cycle time and quality standards.
• Interact with lab engineers and managers to define analytical methods.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance on analytical equipment.
• Assist with training new team members and promote a positive work environment.
• Complete required reporting and documentation; actively participate in continuous improvement.

Summary of Role

This position is in the Failure Analysis Laboratory in GlobalFoundries 300mm fab in Malta, New York. The ideal candidate will have some technical understanding in semiconductor failure analysis using sample preparation, imaging, and analytical techniques. The candidate will have a solid understanding of semiconductor technology and manufacturing.

Essential Responsibilities

• Conduct routine analytical jobs using defined and documented procedures meeting or exceeding cycle time and quality standard expectations


• Interact with lab engineers & managers defining analytical methods needed to achieve expected results, meeting expectations of analyses and interpretation of results


• Perform basic preventive maintenance activities of analytical equipment as needed.


• Assure smooth operation by minimizing stand-by and idle time


• Perform necessary sample preparation techniques (ex. TEM/SEM sample preparation etc.) to enable subsequent analyses to be conducted


• Use standard software applications for analytical job management and results reporting


• Identify and address potential areas for improvement and optimization, cycle time, utilization and cost


• Assists with training others to increase efficiency train new team members as needed and other duties as assigned, and proactively promotes a positive work environment


• Complete all required reporting and documentation


• Actively participate in continuous improvement processes


• Conduct routine analytical jobs using defined and documented procedures meeting or exceeding cycle time and quality standard expectations

Required Qualification

• Education — 2 Year Technical/associate’s degree in science, Math, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Semiconductor Manufacturing or a related discipline or equivalent military training / experience


• Direct experience working in an analytical laboratory (preferably related to failure analysis), materials science, inorganic chemistry


• Fluency in English Language – both written & verbal


• Ability to perform shift work on a 12-hour day shift schedule


• Ability to follow work and safety procedures for the laboratory environment


• Ability to be a team player with a strong work ethic


• Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures to complete tasks and required documentation; demonstrate solid work performance in an environment requiring a high level of attention to detail and timeliness

Preferred Qualifications

• Semiconductor process knowledge and/or semiconductor manufacturing


• Experience using SEM, FIB, TEM sample preparation, TEM imaging


• Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize activities


• Direct knowledge of one or more analysis methodologies used in failure analysis for state-of-the-art semiconductor manufacturing

Salary

Expected Salary Range $48,200.00 - $83,200.00 The exact Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location.
