Job summary

Planet Pharma is seeking a Senior Facilities Engineer – Sterilization for the North Haven, CT campus. You will analyze, design, and support facility engineering across HVAC, exhaust, chillers, boilers, dry compressed air, and related systems.

As the owner’s representative on multi-year sterilization infrastructure projects, you will coordinate with architects/engineers, prepare bid documents, review costs, and supervise construction and commissioning to meet schedules and specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and 4+ years of Facility Mechanical and Electrical infrastructure or Building Automation experience.
• Master’s Degree and 2+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Plans, designs and oversees reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of facilities.
• Gathers and reviews data concerning facility specifications, restrictions, required completion date, and construction feasibility.
• Coordinates with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings.
• Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition.
• Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs.
• Inspects or directs the inspection of construction, installation progress, and commissioning to ensure conformance to drawings, specs, and schedules.
• Travel to other sites 5-10% depending on project needs.

Position Description

The Senior Facilities Engineer – Sterilization will be responsible for analysis, design, and support of all facility engineering related to the multi-year sterilization infrastructure projects at the North Haven, CT campus. They will serve as the owners‑rep engineer on a broad array of projects at a clean medical device manufacturing facility including HVAC, exhaust, chillers, boilers, dry compressed air, etc.

Position Responsibilities – A Day In the Life

• Plans, designs and oversees the reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, and other facilities
• Gathers and reviews data concerning facility or equipment specifications, company or government restrictions, required completion date, and construction feasibility
• Coordinates with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings
• Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition
• Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs
• Inspects or directs the inspection of construction, installation progress, and commissioning to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules
• Travel to other sites 5-10% depending on project needs

Must Haves

• Bachelor’s Degree and 4+ years of Facility Mechanical infrastructure, Electrical Infrastructure, and Building Automation Systems experience OR Master’s Degree and 2+ years of experience

Nice to Have

Mechanical system knowledge (HVAC, electrical, building automation, plumbing systems)

• Experience supporting design/build of clean rooms, chiller plants, compressed air plants
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, shop drawings, and schematics
• Experience with integrated building solutions including temperature control, critical environment monitoring, power management and alarming, zoned lighting control and facility access control
• Tridium/Niagara or Siemens BAS experience
• Facility Commissioning experience
