Position Summary

NRECA is a national trade association that provides advocacy, financial services, and business support to over 900 consumer‑owned electric cooperatives. The position is located in Arlington, Virginia and reports to the office five days a week. We are seeking an experienced Executive Assistant to provide confidential, high‑level administrative support to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). This role is critical to the effectiveness of the COO and requires exceptional judgment, organization, technology‑savvy, and proactive problem‑solving skills.

Responsibilities
  • Provide confidential, high‑level administrative support to the COO, including complex calendar management, scheduling, travel coordination, and expense reporting.
  • Anticipate and resolve scheduling conflicts; prepare the COO for meetings and speaking engagements with agendas, briefing materials, and talking points.
  • Coordinate special projects and high‑level meetings by collaborating with senior leaders and cross‑functional teams to develop plans, communications, and follow‑through.
  • Develop speaking presentations and compile background materials.
  • Maintain accurate records, budgets, and files across NRECA systems; document procedures to ensure business continuity.
  • Support COO preparations for board, committee, and affiliated meetings; serve as a trusted liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications

  • 8+ years of executive‑level administrative support experience.
  • Proven experience working with senior leaders.
  • Familiarity with government, Capitol Hill, association, or industry environments preferred.

  • Ability to work full‑time onsite at NRECA’s Arlington headquarters.
Physical Requirements
  • Close visual acuity required for preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Job rated for light work.
