Job summary

The Downtown Partnership of Baltimore is seeking a Senior Events & Programming Specialist to lead planning and execution of high‑impact events in downtown Baltimore. You will oversee event logistics, manage budgets, and drive engagement with partners and residents, collaborating with the marketing team and cross‑functional staff.

This full‑time role requires at least 3 years in event management, strong organizational skills, and comfort with CRM systems like Salesforce.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Create engaging pitches, presentations, ROIs for wrap-up and other event pieces.
  • Develop and coordinate annual event schedule/calendar mapping including dates and promotions.
  • Maintain permits, contracts, vendors, and contractor paperwork.
  • Develop and maintain clear logistics plans with timelines, signage, and run-of-show instructions.
  • Assist in development and management of event budgets and vendor negotiations to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Oversee procurement of branded merchandise for events and initiatives.

The Downtown Partnership of Baltimore (DPOB) strives to make Downtown a destination of choice for living, working, visiting, and investing. We are the connection to everything happening in the state’s largest business center, cultural district, and fastest-growing neighborhoods. We are the center of it all. We also oversee the Downtown Management Authority (DMA), Baltimore’s oldest and largest business improvement district (BID). DPOB's programs – including uniformed operations teams of Downtown Baltimore Guides, Clean Sweep Ambassadors, and Park Stewards – make the 106-block downtown district more attractive, vibrant, and hospitable.

We are seeking a Senior Events & Programming Specialist, a dynamic, detail-oriented, and results-driven marketing professional, to join our team. In this role, you’ll help lead the planning and execution of high-impact events and initiatives that draw both visitors and residents to Downtown Baltimore. Working collaboratively with the marketing team and cross-functional staff, the Specialist will oversee event logistics, manage budgets, and drive engagement strategies. You’ll also play a key role in growing existing events, developing new programs, supporting marketing efforts, and ensuring seamless on‑site execution.

We’ll need you to
  • Create engaging and compelling pitches, presentations, ROIs for wrap‑up, and other essential events related pieces.
  • Develop and coordinate annual event schedule/calendar mapping of all dates including one‑day festivals, recurring park activities, partner organizations and promotional consumer experiences to include but not limited to Monument Lighting, CIAA Basketball Tournament, Fleet Week, and MLK Parade.
  • Maintain permits, contracts, vendors, and contractor paperwork such as insurance certificates, W9s, etc. in a timely and organized manner.
  • Develop and maintain clear logistics plans including detailed planning timelines, signage, and day‑of‑event run‑of‑show instructions.
  • Assist in the development and management of event budgets, including forecasting, cost tracking, and vendor negotiation to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Oversee the planning, sourcing, and procurement of branded merchandise for organizational events and initiatives
  • Select and manage external vendors for branded merchandise, ensuring alignment with brand standards, budget, and event objectives
  • Lead the development of inventory tracking process to support events and marketing objectives
  • Proactively identify and resolve complex issues during event planning and execution that may impact branding, safety, or customer experience.
  • Curate and execute weekly markets and occasional DPOB presentations for members and partners
  • Responsible for managing event registration platforms and attendee communications
  • Support membership recruitment, retention, and recognition initiatives
  • Assist with volunteer management related to events and programming
  • Maintain accurate event and program information across DPOB communication platforms (internal and external)
  • Actively assist in the development and implementation of events and programming
  • Research industry trends and member interests to recommend new program topics and formats
  • Coordinate speaker outreach, scheduling, contracts, materials, and presentations
  • Monitor attendance data, feedback surveys, and performance metrics
  • Recommend improvements to increase engagement and participation
Is This You?
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in event management or related field required
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record with no more than two (2) points to be eligible to operate company vehicles for occasional business purposes
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and Salesforce preferred
  • Experience with non‑profits, events, retail, or urban placemaking a plus.

Position Type/Expected Work Hours

This position is primarily based in an office environment but regularly works at indoor and outdoor event venues throughout Baltimore. The role may require evening, weekend, and occasional holiday work, as well as travel to event locations, partner sites, and vendor locations.

The position requires the ability to move throughout event venues, including navigating stairs and uneven surfaces, and to remain standing or walking for extended periods during events. The employee may occasionally be required to lift, carry, push, or pull event‑related materials and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. The role also requires regular use of computers, mobile devices, telephones, and other standard office and event equipment.

Event work may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, temperatures, noise, crowds, and other conditions associated with public events.

This full‑time position offers a compensation range of $55,000 to $63,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
