Job summary

Brock-Civil is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to prepare and manage estimates for heavy civil and site development projects across the Metro Atlanta area.

You will independently manage estimates from initial plan review through pricing, bid strategy, final submission and turnover to Operations, with focus on earthwork, grading, and utility scopes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction estimating experience with heavy civil/site development/underground utility exposure.
• Experience estimating earthwork and grading.
• Experience estimating underground utilities (storm drainage, sanitary sewer, water).
• Ability to complete quantity takeoffs from civil plans.
• Knowledge of labor/equipment production rates, trucking, materials, subcontracted scopes.
• Ability to read/interpret civil plans, specs, geotechnical information.
• Experience managing estimates from initial review to final bid.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering or related field; substantial related experience may substitute.

Responsibilities

• Prepare conceptual, budgetary and hard-bid estimates for site development and heavy civil projects.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for earthwork/grading, storm drainage, sanitary sewer, water, erosion control, roadway and related sitework.
• Develop costs for labor, equipment, materials, trucking, production and subcontracted work.
• Review civil plans, specifications, geotechnical reports and bid documents to identify scope, constructability issues and project risks.
• Develop and validate crew compositions, equipment needs and production rates.
• Solicit and level subcontractor and supplier proposals and identify scope gaps and exclusions.
• Participate in site visits, pre-bid meetings, estimate reviews and bid strategy.
• Work with Operations during project turnover and compare estimated costs and production assumptions against actual project performance.

Position Summary:

This is a heavy civil/site development estimating position.

We are specifically seeking an estimator with hands-on experience estimating earthwork, grading and underground utility construction.

If your estimating background is primarily in vertical commercial construction, residential homebuilding, interiors, roofing, MEP, or general building construction, this position is likely not the right fit.

About the Role

Requirements

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 5+ years of construction estimating experience with significant heavy civil, site development and/or underground utility experience
• Demonstrated experience estimating earthwork and grading
• Demonstrated experience estimating underground utilities such as storm drainage, sanitary sewer and water
• Ability to independently complete quantity takeoffs and build detailed estimates from civil plans
• Working knowledge of labor and equipment production rates, trucking, materials and subcontracted scopes
• Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications and geotechnical information
• Experience managing estimates from initial review through final bid

Preferred:

• Experience with HCSS HeavyBid, Agtek, Bluebeam and/or Propeller
• Experience with Primavera
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related field; substantial directly related experience may substitute for a degree
