Job summary

Henderson Group is seeking a Sr. Estimator (Mechanical/Civil/Structural) to join our team in the Houston area. This onsite role focuses on large-scale EPC and design-build projects, with a data center emphasis and opportunities across chemical, petrochemical, and heavy industrial sectors.

You will develop detailed cost estimates, review drawings, and collaborate with engineering and construction teams to ensure accurate, competitive pricing and schedules. Minimal travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or 10 years of experience.
• 10+ years of estimating experience in industrial construction, with focus on mechanical/piping.
• Strong knowledge of civil and structural construction methods and cost drivers.
• Advanced proficiency with Trimble Accubid and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometrics, civil drawings, and structural plans.
• Experience supporting EPC or design-build project delivery models preferred.
• Minimal travel for pre-bid site visits.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil, structural, and mechanical construction scopes, with primary emphasis on piping and mechanical systems.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, and equipment pricing using Trimble Accubid and Microsoft Excel.
• Review drawings, specifications, and scope documents to ensure accurate and complete estimates.
• Collaborate with project management, engineering, and construction teams to validate assumptions and execution strategies.
• Develop pricing for lump sum, unit rate, and time-and-materials proposals.
• Develop construction schedules in Microsoft Project.
• Analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes, ensuring alignment with project scope and estimating standards.
• Identify project risks, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities.
• Support bid reviews, estimate reconciliations, and post-bid handoff meetings.
• Maintain estimating databases, historical cost data, and productivity benchmarks.

About this Role

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Estimator (Mechanical/Civil/Structural) to join our team in Houston, TX to support a growing portfolio of large-scale construction projects, primarily within the rapidly expanding data center market. Additional projects span the chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas, and other heavy industrial sectors.

The Senior Estimator will play a key role in developing accurate, competitive cost estimates for EPC and design-build projects. This position requires a deep understanding of industrial construction methods, material takeoffs, labor productivity, and cost controls.
