Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety or engineering field.
  • 5–7 years of EHS experience in manufacturing.

  • Experience with ISO 14001/45001, OSHA and EPA standards.

Sr. Environmental Health & Safety Engineer II Assistant Manager, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) – Manufacturing Position Summary

The Assistant Manager, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of comprehensive EHS programs within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, minimizing operational risk, and fostering a proactive safety culture aligned with corporate standards and business objectives. The ideal candidate brings deep manufacturing experience, strong technical knowledge, and a proven track record of driving measurable improvements in workplace safety, environmental performance, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • EHS Program Leadership Develop, implement, and manage EHS programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with local, national, and international regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and corporate standards. Drive standardization and scalability of EHS practices across manufacturing operations. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety performance and environmental outcomes.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Audits Ensure full compliance with all applicable EHS regulations and standards. Oversee internal and external audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting. Maintain required documentation, permits, and compliance records. Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and third‑party auditors.
  • Risk Management & Incident Prevention Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and environmental impact evaluations. Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions. Monitor key EHS performance metrics (TRIR, DART, near‑miss reporting) and drive targeted improvements.
  • Manufacturing Operations Support Partner with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to integrate EHS into production processes. Provide guidance on safe equipment design, process changes, and new product introductions. Support facility expansions, new site launches, and capital projects with EHS expertise.
  • Environmental & Sustainability Programs Manage environmental programs including waste management, hazardous materials handling, air emissions, and water compliance. Support corporate sustainability and ESG initiatives through data tracking and performance improvements. Identify opportunities to reduce environmental impact and improve resource efficiency.
  • Training & Safety Culture Develop and deliver EHS training programs tailored to manufacturing personnel and leadership. Promote a strong safety culture through employee engagement, leadership coaching, and behavioral‑based safety programs. Drive accountability at all levels of the organization.
Qualifications
  • Required Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific or engineering field.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in Environmental Health & Safety within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and ISO standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and managing EHS programs in a production setting.
  • Proven ability to lead incident investigations and drive corrective actions.
  • Preferred Experience in electronics manufacturing or contract manufacturing environments.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH, or CHMM.
  • Experience supporting multi‑site or global EHS programs.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
