Job description

Overview

Nelson Mullins, an AmLaw 60 Firm, is seeking a Sr. Enterprise Applications Manager to lead the Firm’s enterprise application portfolio and the teams that support it. This senior leadership role spans across the Firm’s core legal, financial, document, and workflow systems and involves meaningful ownership of where those systems meet the practice. The role oversees the Enterprise Applications, Desktop Engineering, and Applications Development teams and partners closely with attorneys, business professionals, IT leadership, practice groups, and vendors.

Responsibilities

The incumbent will provide strategic leadership for the Firm’s Enterprise Applications, Desktop Engineering, and Applications Development functions, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team culture through coaching, mentoring, performance management, career development, and succession planning. He/She will develop and execute the enterprise application strategy and technology roadmap, ensuring technology investments align with business objectives, attorney productivity, client service, security, compliance, and operational efficiency. The role will lead the planning and delivery of enterprise application implementations, upgrades, migrations, integrations, and production deployments, including after-hours maintenance windows when necessary, while establishing and enforcing governance, change management, documentation, support, licensing, and lifecycle best practices.

Serving as a trusted technology partner to attorneys, business leaders, and administrative departments, the manager will build strong cross-functional relationships and deliver reliable, business-focused technology solutions. He/She will leverage expertise with enterprise legal applications—including Aderant, Intapp, NetDocuments, SharePoint, Milana, BigHand, and the Microsoft technology ecosystem—to support evolving business needs, oversee integration architecture and automated data pipelines, and ensure applications meet information security, confidentiality, records management, business continuity, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Managing strategic vendor relationships, software licensing, contracts, and budget recommendations to maximize value and maintain compliant, cost-effective operations; continuously evaluating emerging technology, AI, automation, and business applications; recommending and leading adoption of innovative solutions; and providing regular portfolio reporting, strategic guidance, and operational updates to IT leadership and governance committees will also be part of the role.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience; 10+ years of progressively responsible experience supporting enterprise applications, with prior law firm experience preferred; prior leadership experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams; proven ability to balance innovation with stability, governance, and discipline.

Knowledge of enterprise application administration, modernization, integrations, licensing, lifecycle, vendor management, and support best practices; familiarity with legal technology platforms, document management, financial systems, workflow and collaboration tools, Microsoft ecosystem, AI-enabled business applications, and automation platforms; ability to evaluate and implement technologies that enhance performance and client service.
