Planet Group seeks a Senior Civil Engineering Technician to lead complex site-development design for industrial projects, creating drawings with AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation.

You will mentor engineering technicians, ensure deliverable quality and codes compliance, and coordinate with design teams to support development and schedules.

This role requires strong technical leadership and the ability to translate client needs into construction-ready plans.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Drafting or related technology.
• Typically 11+ years of related work experience.
• Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or Bentley MicroStation.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering design principles and standards.
• Ability to provide technical leadership to other engineering professionals.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Design-Related Technology (preferred).
• Experience leading or supervising engineering technicians (preferred).

• Review deliverables produced by others for quality and accuracy.
• Coordinate with other design groups to exchange information and support design development.
• Manage drawing control and maintain historical project records.
• Monitor production to ensure consistency with project budgets and schedules.
• Provide technical guidance, consultation, and training to engineering technicians.
• Support continuous improvement of design guides, standards, and processes.
• Communicate project design requirements, progress, and schedules.
• Assist with identifying key client interests and developing approaches to accommodate project needs.
• Support field activities as required.
• Lead specialized assignments and resolve complex technical design challenges.

Position Overview

This opportunity offers the chance to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams within the Technology, Commercial & Industrial Market Sector, supporting Distributed Network projects such as Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Clean Transportation, and Networks & Communications.

Civil Engineering Technicians contribute to the planning, design, and implementation of site development, including grading and drainage, erosion control, roadways, fencing, and underground utilities for advanced industrial and commercial facilities.

The Senior Civil Engineering Technician plays a key role in developing high-quality engineering deliverables for complex infrastructure projects. Functioning in a lead technician capacity, this position performs technical tasks requiring advanced knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices, with a focus on creating and modifying site plans, grading designs, and utility layouts using industry-standard design tools such as Autodesk AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Bentley MicroStation.

This individual provides technical guidance, consultation, and training to other engineering professionals and technicians to ensure quality and consistency across project deliverables. May also supervise an assigned team of engineering technicians and support personnel.

• Previous experience leading or supervising engineering technicians.
