Brunel is seeking a Senior Civil Engineering Technician for its Power Providers sector, within the VDDS group. You will lead a design team delivering site development packages for Advanced Power Generation projects on critical infrastructure sites.

You will set design and graphic standards, mentor technicians, review work, and ensure codes and quality across complex projects. Must be close to one of multiple office locations and eligible for contract-to-perm transition.

We're partnering with a top global engineering and construction firm to find a Senior Civil Engineering Technician for their Power Providers sector. You'll join the Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) group, leading a design team that delivers site development packages for Advanced Power Generation (APG) projects. It's critical infrastructure work on large, complex power plant sites, and it starts as a contract with a clear path to a permanent role.

This is a senior position in every sense. You'll set the design and graphic standards, review other technicians' work and be the person the team turns to when a design problem gets tricky.

What you'll be doing:

• Leading design teams producing site development plans covering grading and drainage, erosion control, roadways, fencing and underground utilities
• Creating and modifying designs in Autodesk Civil 3D, Bentley MicroStation and Bentley OpenPlant Modeler
• Establishing design and graphic standards and making sure deliverables meet applicable codes
• Reviewing design inputs and deliverables from others for quality, accuracy and consistency
• Performing design calculations, material quantity takeoffs and estimatesManaging drawing control and project records
• Coordinating with other design disciplines to keep designs aligned
• Monitoring production against budget and schedule
• Training and mentoring other engineering technicians, including running training sessions in your area of expertise
• Contributing to process improvement and updates to design guides
• Supporting field activities when needed

Essential skills and knowledge

Candidate's Profile

• 11+ years of civil design or engineering technician experience
• Associate degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design related technology (Bachelor's preferred)
• Advanced Autodesk Civil 3D skills, particularly grading, drainage and utility design
• Experience with Bentley MicroStation and/or OpenPlant Modeler is a strong plus
• Background in site development for power generation, utility or industrial projects
• Experience leading or supervising other technicians and reviewing their work
• Comfortable performing design calculations and quantity takeoffs
• Strong understanding of codes, standards and drawing control
• Clear communicator who can present to teams and run training
• Must live within 50 miles of Overland Park KS, Ann Arbor MI, Houston TX or Cary NC
