POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Software Project Manager is responsible for leading software portfolios in support of launching new products and improving existing ones. They achieve this through the application of lean portfolio management tools to drive high-level collaboration and coordination with various functions within engineering, track progress, and provide detailed portfolio reviews with executive leadership. Software Project Managers should be adept at influencing outcomes, negotiating with stakeholders, and providing both leadership and support to their teams. Their function is essential to ensuring teams achieve the objectives and goals required to complete projects on time and within budget. This is a role that requires a motivational project manager with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide cross-functional portfolio leadership of software development initiatives, while managing 3-5 complex projects autonomously.
Drive collaboration and coordination between multiple engineering teams and other Natera domains and/or third parties, with a focus on shift-left dependency and risk management.
Develop and maintain timelines, project documentation and stakeholder status reporting taking a holistic view of available resources, dependencies, priorities, risks and other constraints.
Strong understanding of software architecture principles and SDLC.
Track progress of product requirements and software delivery in enterprise tools (Jira, Confluence, GitLab, Jama) as well as Smartsheet.
Work effectively within Natera’s regulated environment (FDA design controls, HIPAA, etc.)
Take proactive and responsive ownership of delivering projects on time and within budget.
Contribute to evolving EPM team best practices, templates, and processes to increase stakeholder satisfaction and promote efficiencies
QUALIFICATIONS:
7+ years of project management experience in software development, preferably in the Life Sciences or Biotech space.
Experience planning and leading an enterprise software portfolio, developing timelines, documentation and reporting.
Advanced user of software delivery and requirements management tools (Jira, Confluence, GitLab, Jama) and project management tools.
Experience working in a regulated environment is a nice-to-have.
Certification or formal training in Project Management such as a PMP or CSM is a nice-to-have.

Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively communicate with the project teams and executive level management.
Effectively handles challenges and creates an environment where difficult situations can be worked through to success.
A deep understanding of software best practices and systems architecture.
Excellent organization, prioritization and time management / multi-tasking skills (comfortable in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment).
Coaches junior members of the team and exemplifies the lean servant-leader principle.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires the ability to use a computer keyboard, communicate over telephone / web conference calls, and read printed material.
Duties may require working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends) at times.

The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
