Job description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Sr. Engineer Traffic Operations at Iteris, Inc. in Richmond, VA, with some remote work flexibility. The Engineer will be responsible for tasks related to traffic operations, researching emerging technology and new ITS design, overseeing the ATMS software development program, managing all aspects of ITS, Signal and Traffic Engineering projects from inception to completion, and conducting studies to make recommendations on TSMO and Traffic Operations solutions and strategies.

What you will be doing:

• The Specialist will be responsible for tasks related to traffic management, analyzing data, effective communication, strategic planning, program implementation support, conducting research on best practices nationally, developing guidance documents, managing multiple projects, producing design plans, conducting analysis and research, producing documents, communicating with clients, and supporting traffic operations, TSMO, ITS, and traffic engineering programs.
• Ideal candidate is strongly preferred to be located within the Richmond, VA metro area.

What you need to be successful in this role:

• A Bachelor's Science degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering required.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in Traffic Management, TSMO, ITS, Traffic Engineering, or Transportation Design and Planning.
• Experience managing complex projects.
• An advanced degree (Master of Science or PhD) is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with software development for public sector clients.
• Demonstrated experience developing Concept of Operations or following the System Engineering process.
• Ability to apply engineering principles and practices to a variety of complex projects.
• Experience performing operational analysis and data analytics.

Iteris anticipates paying between $108,500 and $120,800 for this role. However, actual pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
